The Power of Light - Remembering John McGahern

To mark the twentieth anniversary of John McGahern’s death, the Iron Mountain Literature Festival and The Dock present an evening of readings and shared memories of the great Leitrim writer. Broadcaster and author Myles Dungan, celebrated actor Jane Brennan and author Sinead Gleeson will discuss McGahern’s work and legacy, share memories of the writer and man, and read from his work. The evening will be presented by festival director, writer and broadcaster Vincent Woods.

Tickets are now on sale for this year's Iron Mountain Festival, which will be held at The Dock, Carrick on Shannon from 3 - 5 Oct, 2025. John McGahern Award Submission Closing Date Approaching.

The closing date is approaching for receipt of submissions for the 2025 John McGahern Award - Sunday 17th August 2025. The recipient, who receives a prize of €2,500, will be announced on Saturday 4th October 2025 during the festival.
