PREPARATIONS HAVE STARTED!!!

Don't forget about our Cruinniú na nÓg Event which is a National free activity day for children this Saturday 6th June with a fabulous family fun day in the amazing surroundings of Donegal Castle from 12.00noon to 4.00pm.

Preparations are well under way with our Signage erected on the railings at Donegal Castle.

There’ll be games to play and performances from the fabulous Professor Peartree, Story Finder, The Drum Circle, Bee Yonce & Honeybee, Magic by MJ, Face painting , Lets Play Donegal Arts and Crafts. Really Grand Events In your In Your Space Circus

BARNESMORE GAP GREENWAY INFORMATION EVENT

TUESDAY 03RD FEBRUARY 2026 ABBEY HOTEL DONEGAL TOWN 7.00PM

CALLING ALL BUSINESSES / COMMUNITY GROUPS / SPORTS & RECREATIONAL CLUBS / SCHOOLS & CRECHES

Donegal Town Community Chamber are delighted to collaborate with Donegal County Councilto host this event which will update all of us on the progress of this project with a presentation showing the proposed routes, Trailheads etc. before commencement of the planning process.

We believe this is a very exciting project for Donegal Town and all the surrounding towns and villages in the area.

When complete this amenity will be a beautiful new space for all of us to explore and enjoy. Part of the route will be on the old railway line through Barnesmore Gap imagine what a nostalgic experience that would be.

We also believe that this project will be hugely beneficial to the local economy as it will further enhance the Tourism offering that already exists therefore creating opportunities for businesses to increase visitor numbers to the area throughout the year.

Some of us have been lucky enough to have already seen this presentation so we really hope that you can join us on the 03rd February 2026 to get a preview of how the finished Project might look.

DONEGAL COUNTY COUNCIL:

Donegal County Council are continuing to develop the Barnesmore Gap Greenway Project, which proposes to provide a Greenway between Donegal Town and Ballybofey/Stranorlar. Following the fourth non statutory public consultation held in June 2025, the project team has been developing the design of the greenway, carrying out environmental surveys and engaging with landowners and other stakeholders/interested parties. The team is currently preparing the documentation required to make a planning application to An Coimisiún Pleanála, which includes design and environmental reports, with a view to commencing the planning process in Summer 2026.

As part of the consultation process for this project, Donegal County Council together with the Donegal Town Community Chamber are proposing to hold an information evening for local businesses and community groups in the area to present the details of the scheme, provide an update on progress and to give an indication of timelines going forward.

We would therefore like to invite you to this information event which is to be held in the Abbey Hotel, Donegal Townat 7pm on Tuesday 03rd February 2026
