MENU HONESTY 2026 🇼đŸ‡Ș

A menu is not decoration, it is a legal promise.
When you print it, you enter a binding contract with every guest who orders from it – what you say is what they are legally entitled to receive.

If you claim “Irish beef”, “home-made”, “organic”, “local” or “line-caught”, you are making a contractual statement.
Mislabel it and you are not just lying – you are misleading consumers, breaching trading standards and exposing your business to legal action for false description and misrepresentation.

So let’s be crystal clear:
Your menu is your contract.
Honour it, or change it.

Zero tolerance to food fraud. Zero tolerance to bu****it.

If your menu says:
“local”
 it better be local.
“seasonal”
 it better be in season.
“Irish beef / lamb / veg / dairy”
 it better be supporting real Irish farmers, not a marketing department.
If you call out a supplier you better have invoices to prove it!

Guests are not stupid. Farmers are not disposable. Staff are not punchbags.

If you are abusing people or dressing up cheap food as something it’s not, you have NO place in Irish hospitality.
This is your line in the sand:
✅ Audit every dish
✅ Name real suppliers
✅ Remove the lies
✅ Amend & reprint your menu – TODAY
Stand with the people who grow, rear, serve and cook the food.

Choose courage over spin. Choose integrity over “vibes”.

You have the toughest job when choosing somewhere to eat! But only if you actually care about provenance of food, workplace culture, respect, nurturing environments, honesty and integrity because no two food businesses in Ireland are made equal!!!!

Finding a business that is run with respect for their team, the local community, local suppliers, farmers and producers while keeping high standards, paying bills on time, keeping up with VAT and having money left in the bank that is worth a double take is so hard to find because many businesses are really and truly struggling, but equally many businesses are defrauding and manipulating their customers pretending they give a s**t about “local” (I know a multi award winning business currently showcasing a local organic grower but THEY DON’T ACTUALLY BUY FROM THEM so they are making a fool of their customers and abusing a business who is working so hard with integrity as a core value that is not being reciprocated!!!!).

Please choose more wisely.
Please do your homework.
Please share what establishments actually are doing amazing work all round- they are the future of food in this country.

I am so interested in how people respond when stories break around abuse in hospitality. I so often get “told” by industry folk that it doesn’t happen anymore and I listen with closed ears because I work 1:1 with industry owners and their teams so I can honestly say THAT WORKPLACE HUMILIATION, DEGRADATION, GASLIGHTING, MANIPULATION AND DIRECT AND INDIRECT BULLYING is still alive and well in many establishments on the island of Ireland. Please also hear me when I say- MANY businesses are doing AMAZING work by creating outstanding environments for their teams even through this time of uncertainty because the industry is buckling under the financial pressures because it’s not regulated or protected. But not enough is being done to protect those that are being exploited because of the green washing!!!!!!!

My new insta profile pic is FIRE SPITTING FROM MY HEAD because I’m appalled at my industry but I’m more appalled at the Government for not having an infrastructure in place to protect owners and employees. It’s fukn broken because it’s so fuking hard to survive. Panic mode creates monsters and the neglect and isolation is breeding and feeding this outcome.

The mental health of our industry is at serious risk.

I’ll do what I can to be loud and support both sides- owner and employee because understanding this requires understanding both perspectives and luckily for me I’ve been an employer and I’ve been an employee in all areas of hospitality so I can grasp this quicker than most who think they know business but in fact they don’t know HOSPITALITY because that is a completely fuking different beast and cannot be compared!
