On behalf of the directors and the many artists who have worked with the company through its various phases, Co-Motion Media would like to extend heartfelt sympathies to the family of Seán Rocks who died suddenly yesterday in the prime of his greatness as a broadcaster. Many have cited Seán’s stage performance in the original 1990s production of Frank Pig Says Hello as a highlight not only of his early career but of their own experiences as audience members. It was a truly astonishing turn: in a memorable 2-hander with David Gorry, he played a whole town, giving dignity to all - from the mature Frank to Francie’s mentally ill mother to Mrs Nugent to the darkly comic butcher in Pat McCabe’s great comic tragedy. Seán was a public champion of the arts and in his personal and professional dealings a man of constant courtesy and generosity.

New from Joe O'Byrne, an immersive telling in fictionalised novel form of the gripping story of The Red Orchestra, a secret resistance organisation of bohemians and insiders in Berlin who risked and lost everything in their valiant efforts to halt the march of Hi**er and the N***s in the late 1930s. History brought vividly to life! "A narrative which kept me riveted. I urge you to read it.” — Patrick McCabe. Click below to order a copy:

THE CORDELIA DREAM : April 29th : Irish Film Institute
A rare opportunity to view Marina Carr’s powerful play on the big screen. Under Joe O’Byrne’s direction, this tense and mysterious drama comes to life. When Woman (played by Danielle Ryan), haunted by her dream of Cordelia and King Lear, confronts Man (Stephen Brennan), their disturbed relationship is exposed. As his musical protegé, she has come seeking enlightenment, but he orders silence. Stephen Brennan humanises and renders likeable the egotistical Man while Danielle Ryan captures the powerlessness and sentimentality of the young woman. O’Byrne’s assured re-staging of Carr’s play for cinema by the Irish Repertory Theatre New York, invites audiences to experience these powerful performances in intimate close-up and confirms Marina Carr’s status as one of Ireland’s most acclaimed living playwrights. The screening will be followed by a post-show discussion with Joe O’Byrne and Marina Carr hosted by Katy Hayes, Theatre Critic (Irish Independent).

1st-12th Nov at NEW THEATRE. Motorcycling; drama; tragedy; resilience... “This is a play about life and death: a battle between two characters as they try to understand why they do what they do - a fierce encounter, full of emotion, passion and dark humour. It is an ode to adventure, to ambition and ultimately a true affirmation of life.” Co-Motion director Joe O'Byrne has been working to bring THE SAFETY CATCH by Nick Snow, journalist and biker, to the stage.

No Risk, No Reward The Safety Catch What would you put on the line to become the very greatest at what you do? What if that was one of the most dangerous sports on the planet, a sport that close members of your own family had paid the ultimate price for while pursuing the very […]
