Phantoscope is Triskel Christchurch Cinema’s quarterly experimental film event. Programmed by filmmaker Maximilian Le Cain in collaboration with Chris O’Neill, Triskel’s head of cinema, it gives Cork audiences the rare chance of encountering gems of classic and contemporary alternative cinema on the big screen. Phantoscope is committed to presenting masterpieces of the past alongside truly undergr

ound gems of current cinema that often receive their only Irish screenings here. It has already welcomed the sounds and images of many often-unsung maverick visionaries whose unique and personal films have to be seen to be imagined. Phantoscope enjoys a strong relationship with the notorious Dublin-based Experimental Film Society, a company for the production and distribution of experimental film that is widely considered to be the cutting edge of Irish underground cinema. Several of its feature films have received Cork screenings at Phantoscope, including Jann Clavadetscher’s Kino Hospital (2017) which had its world premiere here.
