So Marathon No. 8 done and sort of dusted😬 After my surgery back in April, I have no feeling in left calf but thankfully consultant scanned and said it was just nerve damage so got go-ahead to do Marathon. Only downside are calf cramps but thankfully only hit me twice today. Crossing the line a young steward told me that she only lost her Mom to Motor Neurone Disease a fortnight ago so that brings it home. It was great to be part of 28 runners who ran for Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. To all who donated and sent me good wishes, Go raibh maith agaibh go léir. Gutted that my sister Margaret could not do the race due to injury but you will be back, Mag.

A great honour to be able to run for a great cause.

A great honour to be able to run for a great cause.

Good luck to the 28 people running the on Sunday for IMNDA. Thank you so much for your support.

When you need some motivation to keep you going along the 26.2 miles, just remember what a significant difference your donations will make to people living with MND.

Thank you so much and good luck!

A rough evening for a gallop. Glad it was a short run as got soaked. Will do last long run on Saturday of 10 miles and then try to have legs in good shape for Dublin Marathon on Sunday week. Thanks to those who have supported the fundraising to help those affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Every few Euro counts. Go raibh maith agaibh.

People were asking who this gentleman was and he is the former Glasgow Rangers player Fernando Ricksen who was diagnosed with 6 years ago. Unfortunately, this morning Fernando lost his battle at the age of 43. When I am doing the Dublin Marathon next month, I will be thinking of all those whose lives were cut short by this awful disease. Any support on Go Fund Me page or to me personally would be very much appreciated. Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association

Last decent run before Dublin. Take it easy from now until Sunday. Glad I was able to do 13 miles at an easy pace and back held up fine. We have family members affected by Motor Neurone Disease, MS and Parkinson's so delighted to be able to do run and raise a few Euro for these three charities.
