A Historic Arrival in Baltimore Harbour

The countdown is on!

On Tuesday 9th June at approximately 8:00pm, the magnificent Nao Santa María will sail into Baltimore Harbour, marking the beginning of a very special fortnight for our village.

This stunning full-size replica of Christopher Columbus' flagship, one of the most famous ships in maritime history, will be welcomed by a flotilla of local boats including the Baltimore RNLI Lifeboat, traditional wooden boats and members of the local maritime community as she makes her grand entrance into Baltimore.

The Nao Santa María will be berthed on the North Pier and open to the public from 10th–14th June, giving visitors a rare opportunity to step aboard a faithful recreation of the vessel that helped change the course of world history.

Her visit provides the perfect prelude to the Baltimore Pirate Festival, which takes place from 19th–21st June, celebrating Baltimore's rich maritime heritage, pirate history and the story of the Sack of Baltimore.

Three days of pirates, music, markets, sea battles, live entertainment and family adventure on the Wild Atlantic Way.
Step into one of Ireland’s most dramatic true stories — the 1631 Sack of Baltimore — when Barbary corsairs led by Murad Reis the Younger raided the village and carried over 100 people into captivity. The festival remembers this extraordinary history while celebrating Baltimore’s deep maritime spirit, legendary piracy, music and community.
