Meet our 5☆ PowerSquad – The Glam Gurus behind the Flawless Finish.

Mary, Lisa, Lizzie & Aga are a very talented volunteering team of hair and makeup artists who are dedicated to helping girls feel confident, radiant, and ready for the stage. Over the years, the 'PowerSquad' bring the perfect blend of skill, style, and sparkle, from effortless waves to Cover Girl look, they’ve got the tools, the talent, and the passion to make every girl feel like her most powerful self.
But their contribution goes far beyond hair and makeup. Over the years, they have been the calm voices before the stage, offering encouragement, sharing advice, and helping to ease those last-minute nerves before stepping into the spotlight.
Their dedication, kindness, and generosity are a huge part of what makes the Queen of the Lakes experience so special, and I am incredibly grateful for everything they do.

We are so proud of our Princess of the Lakes ~ Rhea May Murphy, who has only gone and got herself an Outstanding Youth Performance Award Nomination for her portrayal of Young Anna in production of FROZEN -The Musical. We are absolutely thrilled for her as she was outstanding in the show and delighted to celebrate her last night.
We also send congratulations to BMS members on their deserving nominations

And that concludes Queen of the Lakes 2026 We have announced our 12 incredible contestants. Each of these wonderful ladies proudly represents local businesses, clubs, and communities, and we are so excited to get to know the ladies over the next few months.
Tonight, we begin this journey together as we officially launch the Ballinrobe Festival. Come along and meet some of the ladies, hear what's happening in Festival 2026 & even join in our Table Quiz.

Hello everyone! My name is Cara, I am 25 years old and from Sligo.

I’m proud to be sponsored by my father’s business Rosie’s Takeaway. Many of you might recognise me from behind the counter where I have worked for several years. I really enjoy the daily chats with customers and have loved getting to know so many people from around the area.

In 2024, I graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science. During my studies, I completed a research placement at Teagasc Oak Park in Carlow, where I assisted with crop research trials, which sparked my interest in the future of sustainable food systems. I am now back at UCD pursuing a Master’s in Plant Biology & Biotechnology with my thesis focusing on oat disease and its significance for food safety.

This year, I have also taken on a new role as a Laboratory Demonstrator at UCD. Teaching first-year students was a big step outside my comfort zone, but it has been an excellent opportunity to build my confidence and share my love for science. Entering Queen of the Lakes is another exciting challenge. I’ve always found that the most exciting things happen when you just step out of your comfort zone and go for it.

When I'm not in a lab coat or at Rosie’s I enjoy staying active at the gym, in a yoga class, or swimming. I enjoy getting creative with new recipes, but my favourite way to switch off is always a walk on the beach with my dogs.

I am very excited for the Queen of the Lakes 2026 experience and look forward to getting to know everyone involved!
