Central to all our work at the beginning was our President Pat Guinan, who became our chief fundraiser, visiting workplaces and businesses for their support. The Club had early success with a big Cup win, and as result big plans were laid out - the parish field was bought and a site for dressing rooms was donated. Pat proposed a weekly lottery as a means of generating a stream of income, as a result of which loans were secured - the field was levelled, dressing rooms were built by voluntary work of many people and the number of teams exploded.
Today, the club fields over twenty teams for more than 500 members.
As the Club celebrates these successes, as an acknowledgement that these would not have happened without the support of the people, they decided that this was an appropriate time to give back - our President Pat, as well as one of our former players, every day live with the challenges of Parkinson’s, so our day of Celebration on Sunday, 10th August will be a fundraiser for people who are challenged by Parkinson’s.
