「圖騰跑2019」因為是在半夜才被逼臨急取消,一切場地佈置已安排及物資已購入,以致使我們沒有空間及額外財務資源作出令跑手們滿意的取消安排如退回、重賽或將報名名額延至下年等,只能夠在有限能力以內作出可行的安排,對此我們深感抱歉及無奈,並再次向受影響的跑手道歉!
1)「全城街馬」成立目的是為了服務社會,以社企的模式營運,慈善及商業部份是分開獨立運作。商業部份如有盈餘亦會撥捐慈善部份,務求能令更多有需要的青少年受惠。這個安排目的是為了確保,即使機構因商業運作有虧蝕,都不會影響慈善方面的服務。
「圖騰跑」由2014年開始,是我們其中一個最重要的籌款活動,以支持「街跑少年」慈善項目及捐贈與其他慈善團體。「圖騰跑」的收費分兩部份,報名費是用作賽事上的所有製作開支,基本捐款部份是完全獨立的,是全數撥捐「街跑少年」及其他慈善項目,絕對不會因為項目收支狀況而影響慈善。而今年「圖騰跑」,在艱難的營運環境下,根據我們的會計數字,「圖騰跑」整體項目大約只能收支平衡甚至有些虧本的狀況,所以恕未能作出額外的折扣或退款安排。一直以來「圖騰跑」都有做獨立審計,我們將會公佈獨立審計後的項目財務狀況,倘若最終有盈利,我們將盈利全數回饋各參加者。
至於整體「全城街馬」,由成立以來一直於虧損與收支平衡中奮鬥,尚未有過穩定的盈利。因為除了要應付不同的商業挑戰之外,更重要是因為我們是一間社企,成立的目的是為了服務社會,所以每當有盈餘,我們便會增加或推出新的慈善項目及服務,所以沒有剩餘的資源。在這艱苦營運的環境中,六年來我們服務了超過12,000位青少年,當中也包括了不少弱勢社群、邊緣青年、院舍及戒藥和少數族裔的青少年,使他們的生命因著長跑訓練而得到正面的發展及轉變。今年因為營運環境的急劇變化,以致有幾個賽事未能舉辦或要臨時取消,即使是舉辦了的收入亦大不如前。本年度的整體收益將會出現明顯的虧損。
2)我們未能如另一個山賽取消後作出財務上的補償。主要是因為當天活動前數小時,才突然出現沒有公共交通支援,加上市民被呼籲要留在安全地方,當出門都有問題的時候,我們只可以在不可抗力的情況下,臨時被迫取消,對此我們也感到非常無奈及失望。可惜這個時候,活動的所有物資運送及安裝都已完成。不但是當天的飲品食物補給運送丶場地佈置丶燈光丶音響及其他安排、策劃都已經浪費,也沒法及早節省未用的資源或金錢。
3)在不可力抗的情況下取消活動,雖然在法理上沒有其他辦法,倘若我們略有盈餘,或許還可以動用以往的盈餘作出相應的方案給予各參加者。可惜,我們作為一間累積虧損的社企,實在沒有財力作出這樣的安排,為此我們也感到很抱歉及無奈。
4)「圖騰跑2019」唯一是基本捐款部份還未使用(這將會用於未來的慈善服務)。既然活動無奈緊急被逼取消,所以即使困難,也決定將是否繼續捐款的決定權交回跑手。無論跑手的決定如何,我們都十分尊重。至於慈善項目缺少的資源,我們會在未來的日子努力營運,希望可為慈善部份增加資源,為更多有需要的青少年人提供更多更好的服務。
5)亦由於活動範圍橫跨多個郊野公園,沒有共同空出的檔期,再加上合作夥伴及義工的時間,活動後3個月內均沒有日子可以重辦。
6)我們將逐一寄出完成毛巾及獎牌,作為活動紀念品。
7)雖然今年因為虧損,沒能力作出更佳安排,但我們承諾,如果「全城街馬」在2020年上半年整體有盈餘,我們會將盈餘全數回饋各位受影響的跑手。
8)我們將於短期內舉辦三場直接對話的分享會,鼓勵直接溝通,誠意邀請大家一同參與,了解更多我們的運作。

再一次向受影響的跑手道歉。
"TOTEM RUN 2019" was forced to cancel at midnight, the set up was fully arranged and materials were bought so that we have no extra financial resources to offer other cancellation arrangements for runners, such as refund, reschedule or keep the registration until next year, etc. We can only make some feasible arrangements based on limited resources. We have to apologize again to the affected runners.
1) The establishment of RunOurCity is to serve the community, operates as a social enterprise which the charity and commercial parts are working in dual engine independently. The surplus in commercial part will be donated to the charity in order to benefit more youngsters in need. This arrangement is to ensure the charitable services will not be affected regardless of the loss in the commercial part.
TOTEM RUN has been one of our most important fundraising events since 2014 and invited them to support charitable projects - Youth.ROC and other charitable organizations. The fee of TOTEM RUN is divided into 2 parts - Registration fee is for all the operation expenses for the race; mandatory donation is fully donated to Youth.ROC and other charitable projects separately, which is not affected by the financial status of the race. TOTEM RUN is working under a tough operating environment this year, according to our latest accounting figures, it can only be breakeven or even in a loss, hence no extra discount or refund can be arranged. TOTEM RUN has been done independent audit continuously, we will publish its financial status later on. If there is any surplus, we will return back to all participants.
For the overall operation of RunOurCity, we have been hovering in profit loss and breakeven point, a stable profit is yet to make. Apart from facing different commercial challenges, the more important thing is that we are a social enterprise has been established for serving the community. We will add or launch new charitable projects and services whenever there is a surplus, hence there are no remaining resources. We have still served more than 12,000 youngsters in the past 6 years under this tough operating environment, including those who come from underprivileged backgrounds and the ethnic minority communities, to create a positive personal development and transformation through distance running. Due to drastic changes in operating environment this year, several races have been cancelled, even the revenue of the completed races has dropped significantly. We are expecting a significant loss this year.
2) We are unable to offer a financial compensation like another trail run. The main reason is that the public transport announced for suspension and the citizens were advised to stay in a safe place in a few hours before the event. While we concerned about the safety of participants, we regret to announce for cancellation under force majeure. However, all the delivery of materials and setup were completed by that time. Not just the delivery of food and beverage, venue setup, lighting, audio system and other arrangements, but also our planning was wasted without any savings on unused resources or money.
3) Although we have no other solution in a legal perspective if the event was cancelled under major majeure, we may make a corresponding solution for all participants if there is some surplus on hand. However, as a social enterprise with accumulated losses, we regret that we have no extra financial resources to make such an arrangement.
4) The mandatory donation is the only part has not been used in TOTEM RUN 2019 (It will be used for the charity services in the future). As the event was not held as scheduled, we let the runners to decide whether they would like to maintain the donation or not, even if we are facing difficulties. We respect for any decision of the runners. For the missed resources in the charity projects, we will work hard in the future to strive for more resources and provide better services for more youngsters in need.
As our scope of event spans various country parks, there is no common available schedule, plus the time of the partners and volunteers, the event cannot be re-run within 3 months.
6) We will send out all the finisher towels and medals as souvenirs of the event.
7) Although we are unable to make a better arrangement due to a loss in this year, but we promise to return the profit to the affected runners if RunOurCity has a surplus in the first half year of 2020.
8) We will arrange 3 sharing sessions to encourage direct communication with us. We would like to invite all of you to join and know more about our operation.
