The Visual Arts International Festival – VAiF26 invites photographers from around the world to submit their work to the Photography Portfolio – Open Call 2026.

We are looking for cohesive photographic portfolios with a strong artistic vision, contemporary approach, and personal storytelling.

The Visual Arts International Festival – VAiF26 invites designers, illustrators, artists, and creative studios from around the world to participate in the Poster Design Open Call – Designing for Change: Memory / Tradition.

Create posters inspired by memory, intangible cultural heritage, traditions, and cultural identities that are fading, transforming, or resisting disappearance.

The Visual Arts International Festival – VAiF26 invites photographers from Greece and abroad to participate in the Photography Portfolio – Open Call 2026.

The open call aims to highlight contemporary photographic practices through portfolios that stand out for their artistic approach, thematic coherence, and personal visual language.

Participants may submit one portfolio consisting of up to 10 photographs forming a cohesive thematic or narrative body of work.

Το Visual Arts International Festival – VAiF26 προσκαλεί φωτογράφους από την Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό να συμμετάσχουν στο Photography Portfolio – Open Call 2026.

Στόχος του open call είναι η ανάδειξη της σύγχρονης φωτογραφικής δημιουργίας μέσα από portfolios που ξεχωρίζουν για την καλλιτεχνική τους προσέγγιση, τη θεματική συνοχή και την προσωπική οπτική γλώσσα.

Οι συμμετέχοντες μπορούν να υποβάλουν ένα portfolio έως 10 φωτογραφιών που συγκροτούν μια συνεκτική θεματική ή αφηγηματική ενότητα.

📸 City of A. - Vasilis Nempegleriotis | VAiF25

Larissa, a city layered with thousands of years of history, stands between its agricultural past and urban present. In this project, I return to the streets of my childhood, exploring memory and identity through photography. Accompanied by my child, I witness past and future coexisting within the same frame. The work unfolds as a personal visual dialogue with place, time, and transformation, seeking to express the unspoken dimensions of the familiar.

The exhibition was presented at the Former Municipal Slaughterhouses of Thessaloniki – Labattoir, as part of VAiF25, from 29.11.2025 to 21.12.2025.

Η Λάρισα, μια πόλη με χιλιάδες χρόνια αδιάλειπτης κατοίκησης, ισορροπεί ανάμεσα στο αγροτικό της παρελθόν και το αστικό της παρόν. Στο έργο αυτό επιστρέφω στους δρόμους της παιδικής μου ηλικίας, διερευνώντας μέσα από τη φωτογραφία τη μνήμη και την ταυτότητα. Μαζί με το παιδί μου, βλέπω το παρελθόν και το μέλλον να συνυπάρχουν στο ίδιο κάδρο. Η εργασία εξελίσσεται ως ένας προσωπικός οπτικός διάλογος με τον τόπο, τον χρόνο και τη μεταμόρφωση, επιχειρώντας να εκφράσει το ανείπωτο του οικείου.

Η έκθεση παρουσιάστηκε στο κτήριο των Πρώην Δημοτικά Σφαγεία Θεσσαλονίκης – Labattoir, στο πλαίσιο του VAiF25, από τις 29.11.2025 έως τις 21.12.2025.

Η Hoxton Street, μια παραδοσιακή εργατική γειτονιά στο ανατολικό Λονδίνο, βρίσκεται στο μεταίχμιο. Επιχειρήσεις με ιστορία πάνω από έναν αιώνα συνυπάρχουν με coffee shops, art spaces και πολυτελείς αναπτύξεις ακινήτων. Καθώς οι τιμές ανεβαίνουν και οι παλιοί κάτοικοι αισθάνονται ολοένα και πιο αποκλεισμένοι, το ερώτημα «ποιος φταίει;» αιωρείται, με το δημοψήφισμα για το Brexit να λειτουργεί ως πολιτικό και κοινωνικό φόντο.

Ο Zed Nelson παρακολουθεί τη ζωή στον δρόμο μέσα από τις φωνές των ανθρώπων του. Από την 82χρονη Colleen μέχρι το ζευγάρι που γνωρίστηκε έφηβο δουλεύοντας στο ίδιο pie shop που διατηρεί ακόμη, το ντοκιμαντέρ σκιαγραφεί μια κοινότητα που νιώθει πως έρχεται καταιγίδα. Η άνοδος των νέων δημιουργικών επαγγελμάτων, των startups και των developers, σε συνδυασμό με την αποβιομηχάνιση, την λιτότητα και την ανεξέλεγκτη κερδοσκοπία, βαθαίνει το κοινωνικό και οικονομικό χάσμα.

Το The Street, μεγάλου μήκους ντεμπούτο του Nelson, αποτελεί ένα αιχμηρό και ανθρώπινο πορτρέτο της σύγχρονης αστικής ζωής. Ένα ντοκιμαντέρ για τον εξευγενισμό, την απώλεια, τον φόβο και την αίσθηση ότι κάποιοι μένουν πίσω, σε μια πόλη που αλλάζει με ιλιγγιώδη ταχύτητα.

Hoxton Street, a working-class area in East London, is undergoing rapid transformation. Long-established local businesses now coexist with coffee shops, art spaces and luxury developments, as rising rents push long-term residents to the margins. Set against the backdrop of Brexit, the film explores feelings of exclusion, loss and growing social division.

Through the voices of the people who live and work on the street, The Street offers a compelling and human portrait of gentrification and urban change in contemporary London.

That same evening, 8 of the exhibitions hosted at the Labattoir will be open to the public.
