Here is the full two-minute clip for you to enjoy! Facebook (or perhaps my own tech skills!) randomly edited the original post, but the main thing is that you get to see the full story.

It is wonderful to see Dimi sharing her experience alongside snippets of both her lunchtime and evening performances—she really was amazing!

This 2-minute journey beautifully encapsulates the spirit of the festival through the lens of the super talented Flo Bass. From the sun-drenched lunch performance by the Aegean Sea to the starlit atmosphere of our open-air venue, Flo’s film captures the heartbeat of our community.
Hear from the incredible Dimi Rompos as she reflects on the magic of her first time here, describing the powerful experience of being surrounded by the collective energy of so many women. It was a pleasure to witness such an incredible talent.

Sappho Women are immensely proud to announce the first of many amazing performers to appear at the 26th International Eressos Women's Festival (IEWF). Over the coming weeks and months, we'll be introducing you to some incredible artists who'll be performing at our magnificent open-air venue under the shining Eressian stars. We sincerely hope you can join us.

First up are the outrageously talented Kids With Buns!

Drawing on their own lived experiences, Kids With Buns are dedicated q***r role models who use their music and documentary work to provide a powerful platform for authentic LGBTQI+ voices, making them a perfect fit for our community. We know you'll give an amazing, magical welcome to Amber & Marie as they grace our stage this September.

After an impressive debut with ‘Out of Place’ and sold out release shows in iconic venues such as Ancienne Belgique (Brussels) and De Helling (Utrecht), Kids With Buns are back with their long-awaited second album. The Belgian indie-pop duo (Amber Piddington and Marie Van Uytvanck) began writing after both had gone through breakups. They travelled to Philadelphia to collaborate with Jacob Blizard (former producer and guitarist for Lucy Dacus, known from boygenius). There, they grew closer than ever and wrote songs as a way to hold each other, and themselves, together. Inspired by a chaotic period filled with late nights out but also heartbreak, the result became not only their most mature and profound work to date, but also their biggest and most international sounding. With mainstage performances at Belgian festivals including Pukkelpop and shows in Germany, Luxembourg, Romania, France, and the Netherlands, Kids With Buns have long proven their powerful live reputation. Their concerts are honest translations of their vulnerable tracks as well as grand experiences that captivate any audience.

We're so looking forward to welcoming Amber & Marie and know they'll receive a fabulous welcome from you.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2026 : 'Give to Gain'
With this year’s International Women’s Day theme being ‘Give to Gain’, we’ve been thinking about the wonderful energy that makes our festival happen. Our evening stage is an amazing and magical part of the festival, but its soul is equally found in the incredible energy of everyone who arrives ready to share.
Our programme is a bit of a kaleidoscope—it’s built by everyone from the academics leading deep discussions to the drummers, painters, dancers, healers, and so many more incredibly talented people who fill our days with learning, rhythm, colour, laughter and healing. There is such a huge variety of skills and knowledge given so generously here, and it’s that spirit of sharing that makes the festival feel so alive.
When you give your time or your craft to this community (or any other), you always seem to gain something much deeper in return. It might be a new skill or a sparked idea, but more often than not, it’s the friendships. Because we’re such an international crowd, those connections end up stretching right across the globe—cherished, long-distance bonds that start right here by the beautiful Aegean Sea on Sappho's Isle. We’ve said it before and we'll say it again: we’re sure she would be proud!
However you are marking International Women’s Day—we applaud you, we celebrate you.

It’s an impossible task trying to capture the pure joy and magic of the festival but, over the coming months, we’re going to try!
There are so many wonderful and wildly varied activities to entertain and capture your imagination during the 10 days. Whether you want to immerse yourself fully in all that we have to offer, or you’d prefer to laze the days away on our award-winning beach, the choice is yours.
One thing we know for sure—and it’s at the very heart of what we do and why we do it—is that friendships made here last a lifetime. We’re thrilled that this is the place you choose to reunite.
If you haven’t been before, remember everyone had a ‘first time’. It’s an especially brilliant festival for solo travellers; you’ll find endless people encouraging you to join in, attend groups, dinners, walks, swims and concerts. This year, we will be facilitating even more groups and activities aimed specifically for solo attendees.
We certainly look forward to welcoming ALL of you!

𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗢 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 — 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗦𝗞𝗔𝗟𝗔 𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗢𝗦 & 𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡 𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗩𝗢𝗦

Local environmental and community organisations are currently organising in preparation for the public consultation process regarding a proposed Hybrid Energy Park in the area behind Profitis Ilias in Skala Eressos, as well as a second site in Mantamados.

According to publicly shared information, part of the landscape visible on the map is included in the project’s proposed location. The project is described as a hybrid installation combining photovoltaic panels and energy storage batteries.

We are sharing this information to inform our community and to express solidarity with the local environmental and community organisations and residents who are engaging with and preparing for this process.

In this context, the local environmental and community organisations are raising the following concerns:

• Scale and land use
The project is reported to cover a large area, which may significantly alter land that has long been used for grazing and forms part of the local landscape.

• Energy system considerations
Questions are being raised about how a project of this size relates to local energy needs and Lesvos’ grid characteristics.

• Energy storage safety
Known risks associated with large-scale battery storage, including fire hazards, are being highlighted, alongside calls for clarity on how such risks are addressed in environmental assessments.

• Livelihoods and land access
Concerns are being expressed about potential impacts on livestock farming and continued access to grazing land.

• Environmental and landscape impacts
Possible effects on soil stability, ecosystems, and the character of the landscape are being identified, along with potential implications for nature-based tourism.

• Protected natural heritage
Western Lesvos is part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network, and questions are being raised about how large-scale infrastructure projects interact with this designation.

• Public participation and consent
The local environmental and community organisations state that the project has been planned without prior consultation or inclusion of the local community, and that residents have not been placed at the centre of decision-making. They reject this approach and maintain that such a large-scale intervention should not proceed without the consent of the people who live in and depend on the area. They further state that they oppose the project itself and are working to prevent its implementation, not only to contest the process through which it has been advanced.

A financial support campaign is in place to cover legal and technical costs associated with participating in the consultation process.

If you have ever:
• attended this festival, or plan to
• walked these hills and feel connected to this landscape

you may wish to inform yourself further about the project and the concerns being raised.

More information and the financial support campaign can be found here:

This initiative is being led by the Eressos Initiative – Environmental & Social Association, the Movement for Free Mountains in Lesvos, and the Theophrastus Association.

Sappho Women stands in solidarity with their efforts to engage and make their voices heard.

Table for Two?

Like many of you, we’ve been seeing some incredible weather over the past few weeks. It seems we’ve had everything from phenomenal winds, hail, rumbling thunder, lightning and even a little snow!

One thing we can guarantee, however, is glorious sunshine during the festival month of September (9th – 19th)

So, if you’re already dreaming of a lazy lunch at one of our amazing tavernas, sipping cocktails by the crystal-clear Aegean Sea, partying into the night with one of our incredible DJs, or simply relaxing with a good book, now might be the time to beat the January blues and purchase a wristband.

As a non-profit organisation, we work hard to keep wristband prices low. At just €125 for an 11-night festival, we believe it offers exceptional value for such a colourful and vibrant programme of events. By joining us, you’ll also be supporting our not-for-profit status.

We hope to welcome many of you back and look forward to meeting newcomers, too.
