✨ I.TH.A.C.A. 2026 – DAY 1 WORKSHOPS ✨

What a way to begin our journey.

Today, artists from different countries, backgrounds and disciplines gathered at Modern Times to learn, explore, challenge themselves and create together.

🧠 The Logic of the Illogical with Inbal Lori invited participants to embrace the unexpected and find truth in the absurd.

✨ Abstracting the Moment with Shawn Fisher took improvisers beyond scenes and into movement, poetry and visual storytelling, culminating in the creation of a brand-new showcase.

🎬 Monoscenes with Paul Mone explored the beauty of staying in one place, one story and one evolving world, discovering how much depth can emerge when we resist the urge to jump away.

Throughout the day, new connections were formed, ideas were exchanged, risks were taken, and the first artistic bridges of this year’s festival were built.

And this is only the beginning.

✨ I.TH.A.C.A. 2026 BEGUN YESTERDAY - ALMOST✨

After months of preparation, countless emails, applications, rehearsals, workshops, plans, dreams, and conversations…

Yesterday, the second edition of I.TH.A.C.A. officially begun. 💙

Well… almost.

Before the workshops start, before the lights go up and before the first show takes the stage, we gather for one of our favourite traditions:

🇬🇷🤝 Meet ‘n’ Greek

A chance for artists, participants, volunteers, teachers, performers and audience members to meet, connect, laugh, and start building the bridges that will carry us through the week ahead.

Over the next days, Athens will welcome artists from across Europe, Africa, North and South America, and Asia. New friendships will be formed, new collaborations will begin, and stories that don’t yet exist will find their way onto our stages.

This year’s theme is Building Bridges, and tonight is where those bridges begin.

Whether you’re joining us for a workshop, a show, a social event, or the entire journey, welcome to the I.TH.A.C.A. family.

At I.TH.A.C.A. 2026, one of our invited artists appears with no name.
Not for fun.
Not for marketing.
But because revealing their identity could put them at risk. We understand that this probably will create more questions than answers, but as an organization giving space lies in the core of our beliefs. We are available for conversations outside social media and we are more than sure that our festival this year wouldn't be the same without them.

Unnamed Artist is a theater maker, peacebuilding consultant, and trainer whose innovative work spans continents, drawing from improvisational theater and ancient storytelling traditions to inspire performance, writing, directing, radio dramas, sound design, and music. A member of a prestigious Directors Lab, they blend arts and conflict transformation to foster dialogue, understanding, and creative interventions.

At ITHACA 2026, this visionary brings decades of expertise in improv training, Theater of the Oppressed, Playback Theater, and expressive arts for peacebuilding — offering powerful tools for performers, facilitators, and change-makers to build connection, systems thinking, and transformative scenes. With an MFA in Staging Shakespeare and an impressive international track record, she has taught and performed at festivals across Europe and the U.S., and now leads Improvizza!, Malta’s own improv festival.

At ITHACA 2026, Simone will lead Consent Is Sexy — a workshop that invites improvisers to explore intimacy with confidence, care, and clarity.
