Yesterday, the Banjul Film Festival (BFF) continued its mentorship sessions at Latrikunda Upper and Senior Secondary School, further empowering young creatives with practical filmmaking skills.

During the session, students were introduced to basic camera techniques and practical handling, led by one of BFFโ€™s dedicated and talented members, Isatou Astou Mbakeh. Through her engaging and hands-on approach, students gained valuable insight into camera settings, framing, and the fundamentals of visual storytelling.

Isatou Astou Mbakeh demonstrated remarkable professionalism, skill, and commitment throughout the session. Her ability to simplify technical concepts and inspire the students reflects not only her strong expertise in filmmaking but also her passion for mentoring the next generation of storytellers.

Over the weekend, the Banjul Film Festival (BFF) continued its mentorship programme at Brufut Upper and Senior Secondary School.

On Friday, the mentees participated in a practical scriptwriting session facilitated by trainer Adama Badjie. The session focused on developing story ideas, structuring scripts, and strengthening creative storytelling skills.

On Saturday, Isatou Mbakeh introduced the mentees to basic camera settings and techniques, providing hands-on guidance to help them understand the fundamentals of filming.

Additionally, Pa Modou Cham and Bubacarr Jallow, BFF Executive Members, motivated the students by highlighting the growth of the film industry and emphasizing its importance as a platform for creativity, employment, and cultural expression.

Over the weekend, BFF continued its mentorship programme at Latrikunda Sabiji Upper and Senior Secondary School, with two impactful sessions held on Friday and Saturday.

The sessions were led by our dedicated mentors Mr Bubacar Jallow, Adama Badjie, and Isatou Mbakeh, who delivered insightful and inspiring deliberations, engaging students in meaningful discussions.

Over the weekend, Banjul Film Festival (BFF) successfully held its second mentorship session at the University of Education, continuing its commitment to nurturing young creative talents.

During the session, Adama Badjie, who is leading the scripting component, engaged the mentees in an in-depth review of their film scripts, offering practical guidance to strengthen storytelling and structure. Lamin B. Barra of the Media Academy for Journalism and Communication (MAJaC) complemented this by introducing the mentees to the key stages of film production, helping them understand the full journey from concept to screen.

The Banjul Film Festival (BFF) officially begins its six-month mentorship programme today, in collaboration with Media Academy for Journalism and Communication - MAJaC. The mentorship will engage 100 students from different schools to nurture the next generation of filmmakers and creatives. The programme kicks off at the University of Education and will run through June 2026, offering hands-on training, mentorship, and practical exposure in film and media.
