Unfortunately our planned speaker for our November Meeting, Robert Hopkins, is regrettably unavailable, although we are hoping to arrange for him to attend later next year. In his place we are pleased to announce that David Blades will continue with his RAF Aircraft Markings of which he ran out of time with last month. We also have a small photo presentation if needed.

For our next Branch Meeting on Thursday 10th August, our guest, Neil Heather, will be giving us an illustrated talk on his career in aviation which includes time with Air 2000 and Air Bridge Carriers. Some of you may know Neil from visits to Aviation Group Park at Hawarden where he is the informative guide on the tours.

The Speaker for our next Meeting this Thursday (13th July} will Nigel Macknight featuring a wonderful collection of images assembled for a book Nigel is producing on the subject, this is an insight into the fabulous X-15 research plane that flew as high as 354,200 feet and at speeds as fast as 4,520mph (Mach 6.7

Nigel was acquainted with four of the X-15’s pilots and brings their personal recollections into what promises to be a fascinating presentation.

For the next Meeting on June 8th we are pleased to welcome Senior Chief Jay Lieberman to give us an illustrated talk about his 24 year career in the U.S. Navy, an abbreviated version of which is as follows.
Enlisted as a Seaman Apprentice in 1973. first assignment aboard submarine tender USS Simon Lake. Shore based at Rota Spain 1974-76 followed by more classified Command Facilities in Maryland and Stuttgart.
Aboard USS Ranger in the Gulf at the time of the Iranian hostage crisis, followed by more time in Maryland and 2 tours at Rota. He returned to sea 1990-93 aboard USS Saipan, then was assigned to Naval Computer & Telecommunications Station London and Headquarters Staff Naval HQ Europe. He retired in 1997 with various awards including Commendation Medal, Achievement Medals, and S.W. Asia Service Medal.

For our May Branch Meeting we will have Squadron Leader Rick Lipscomb as our speaker. Rick joined the RAF in 1984 as an avionics apprentice and has worked on various aircraft types The main topic of his talk to us will be the Heritage Team which Rick joined in 2016. This has a varied role in ensuring the RAF's history and contribution to the nation is preserved. This includes the gifting of retired aircraft to the museum sector, gate guardians, giving support to squadrons closing and reforming and preserving historical artefacts, artwork and medals. Meeting at our usual venue, the Avril Heritage Museum commencing at 1330hrs, all are welcome to attend

Due to a late change in speakers, our planned quest for the 13th April is now Gerry Manning who was previously scheduled to attend last month. Meeting details are as usual, venue, Avro Heritage Museum commencing at 1330hrs and the subject will be Water Bombers Around the World. Everyone is welcome to attend although there will be a small fee for non Branch Members

For this months meeting on Thursday 9th February, Branch member Brian Downs will be showing a selection photographs from the aviation collection of long time Branch member Arnie Rogerson after he had to move into a residential home due to a serious fall. These will be scanned shots of all types of propliners from around the World.

The meting will be at our usual venue, Avro Heritage Museum, Woodford commencing 13.30hrs

Our next Branch Meeting will be on Thursday 13th October at our usual venue, the Avro Heritage Museum commencing at 1330hrs. Our guest Speaker for this meeting will be Richard Crewdson, Richard is B.Ae, Systems as the Maintenance Capability Manager, Fast Jet Support which means He is involved with both the Hawk and Typhon programmes,

He will be talking mainly about the Hawk T,2 programme and it's operation at R.A.F. Valley.

Please note that the new access road to the Centre has now been opened, Go the end of Lancastrian Way and then turn right on the new single track road. Do use hazard lights and keep within the speed limits from this point

For our next Branch Meeting on Thursday (8th) we have Trevor Jackson with us to give us a talk entitled 'To the Moon and Back - Just a Few Times! ' about his life as a R.A.F. pilot and his venture into the Civil Airliner World.

If you have heard Trevor's talks, especially about the Vulcan, of which he is an ex pilot, you will know how informative and entertaining he his, so please come along for a good afternoon.

For our August Meeting at our usual venue, the Avro Heritage Museum, Woodford, it will be our pleasure to welcome Tony Merton Jones, editor of the ever popular ‘Propliner’ magazine.

Commencing at 1330hrs on Thursday 11th August, this is a must event for anyone interested in old Propliners, Tony will discuss the production of the magazine/Annual as well as showing some pictures of Propliners

Our speaker is coming all the way from Somerset and we’d like to ensure that his journey is more worthwhile with a good attendance
