It’s taken a little while for my thoughts about this new collection to develop into actual pieces of jewellery. It seems that however many sketches I make, and cardboard prototypes I try, the final pieces are so often quite different from how I originally thought they would be.

It’s an interesting process; but means that I can put my original intentions in my metaphorical back pocket for another time.

The source of the inspiration for this set of jewellery is the little town that, for the past 18 months I have been lucky enough to call home. My aim was to reflect the character of this place, full of its quirky buildings, gritty history, and beautiful green backdrop in a limited collection of pieces. When I portray Wirksworth to people who don’t know it, it isn’t until I describe it as returning to a warm hug, that I feel I have done it justice. And it is this sentiment, also that I was keen to capture in this jewellery.

No two pieces are the same. And some carry a little secret… which, as you will know if you are familiar with the town, is something we never get tired of.

Our town comes alive with an extraordinary showcase of visual art, performances, and open doors across two weeks of Festival 11th - 20th September, with the brilliant Art Trail in the middle weekend. The Studio is an official venue, so I’ll be hosting two fabulous makers - and alongside sharing new work of my own.

will keep you fully informed.

There will be pop up music and performances throughout both days, a dedicated food court and a free shuttle bus service from our park and ride car parks at each end of the town. Parking fees are taken by volunteers, and all monies are passed to the Wirksworth Colts Football Club.

Those of you who have been before will know how much of a buzz there is in the town. Please pass on to your family and friends.
