Windsor and Eton Living Advent Calendar

Windsor and Eton Living Advent Calendar Based on an original idea from Stockholm, The Windsor and Eton Living Advent Calendar is a collaborative project run with Windsor & Eton Business Partnership

Based on an original idea from Stockholm, The Windsor and Eton Living Advent Calendar is a collaborative project run with Windsor & Eton Business Partnership and 24 local businesses to provide live entertainment every evening from 1 to 24 December. Like a children’s advent calendar, a different window or door is opened every evening at 6:15pm promptly and a 15 minute performance is given to the au

dience assembled outside each participating business. Performances will range from songs, carols, music, poetry, book excerpts, creative arts, notes from local history or folklore, sketches and dance, all with a Christmas theme. Each participating business will have their own event to run and in true advent calendar style the details of the of the actual performance will be kept secret and revealed on the day. Organised by Windsor & Eton Business Partnership, this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Christmas involving all the community and provide a great opportunity for local groups to engage with businesses in a different way.

The final evening! Day 24 of the Windsor and Eton Living Advent Calendar, hosted as per tradition by the Windsor Parish Church. Many thanks to Rev Sally Lodge for leading the carols on the steps, and to the choir and public for their good voice!

Prizes were awarded to our top contributors, Louise Jones, Barbara McMillan, Eliza Mazur the top prize to Daren Collins for covering every event with a series of great posts!

Cllrs Wilson and Tisi briefly spoke about the wonderful way the living advent brings the wider Windsor community together. It’s a great way of showcasing the talent in the town, highlighting the great work of churches and voluntary organisations and promoting local businesses and venues. The contribution of young people to this year’s events has been fantastic, and we thank everyone who has taken part.

By way of reflecting on the month, may we offer the 12 stats of Windsor Christmas!…

The living advent gave us…
12 evenings of song
11 pubs and bars
10 school performances
9 mince pies eaten
8 Royal Harmonics
7 supported charities
6 James Manwarings
5 actual churches
4 crafty evenings
3 retail outlets
2 public buildings
And a natural history museum!!

It’s been a wonderful month - from all of us here, may we wish you a very merry Christmas and a fantastic 2026!
