Cracking time on Ilkley Moor. Got here last night at about 10pm when it was cold, wet and very windy. Tried to use the roof tent but quickly realised it would have been a noisy night with no sleep, so I opted for my Aussie Swag - very comfortable with my new Mountain Equipment Helium 600 sleeping bag. (If you don’t know what a swag is then look up www.ccswags.com)

This morning, I got my 12,000 steps in visiting the UFO landing pad, Cowpers Stone Cross, the Moon Alter, Stanza Rocks, the Thimbles and the 12 Apostles Standing Stone Circle (image 2).

I must admit, I love a moor!

NEW PASSPORT: Yesterday, I had to get a new passport so I spent my time in the line flicking through the pages and decided this was my favourite stamp. A perfect adventure with a best friend, overcoming fears, pushing boundaries and trying new things (Aconcagua was my first big mountain).

Hope I can fill my new passport with similar adventures. - where we going next?

UPCOMING TALK: I am really excited to be talking on the Cotswold Outdoor Everyday Adventure Stage in the Basecamp Village at the Kendal Mountain Festival (13.15 on Sat 19 Nov).

This year I am doing things a little differently and the audience can choose which adventures I talk about. There are nine to choose from and we will get through as many as possible.

As its a mountain festival, here are nine “mountain moments” from each of the 9 adventures.

Image 1: Cycling 7000km from New York to San Francisco – Climbing 2441m up the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado

Image 2: Trekking across Mongolia with 10 camels – Buying a warm beer and then having to drink it before it froze on the top of the hill outside Lun - it was about -25

Image 3: Running 17,000km from Canada to Argentina - Reaching an altitude of 4830m while running across the Andes between Chile and Argentina.

Image 4: Hiking 800km along the Hayduke Trail – Trudging my way across the snowy Henry mountains in Utah without snow shoes

Image 5: Cycling 10,000km around the UK (while eating lots of Whole Earth Peanut butter!) – Keeping up with road cyclists on Hardknott Pass, Bealach-Na-Ba, Wrynose pass and Honister pass, while riding a fully loaded touring bike.

Image 6: Climbing the three highest peaks in Ecuador – After bad weather stopped a night ascent our guide made us climb up Cayambe during the day (not really advised)

Image 7: Cycling 3700km from Sao Paulo to La Paz – Tackling my first mountain range on a bike while crossing the Andes in Bolivia

Image 8: Summiting Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the southern hemisphere – First time a tear has rolled down my cheek when reaching a summit

Image 9: Running 620km across Iceland – Running passed Geldingafell volcano listening and singing along (badly) to Breakthru by Queen.”

Ok.. skipping outside, I need advice. My rope keeps getting snagged on everything and it gets rather frustrating! Is there something I can buy (that would fit in my van) that would help when trying to skip on dirt, grass and gravel surfaces?

New mini adventures coming… I have been without a camper-van since February due to Brexit & French car registrations making it impossible to have my Bongo here!

So I sold the Bongo to a lovely person who I know will enjoy it & bought this little bad boy!

A 1995 Ford Transit Hymer… a little bigger than the Bongo but hopefully will allow some longer journeys. Will do a full introduction in due course.

Tonight is my first night in it and looking forward to working everything out! Fingers crossed all goes well…

Why do i prefer sleeping in strange places rather than my own bed at home? This was me in a cabane up in the Pyrenees on Tuesday night. The basic hut did have bed but obviously no mattresses. I pulled out my Sea to Summit ultralight insulated mat, Montane Featherlite insulated jacket (as a pillow), Mountain Equipment Helium 400 sleeping bag and Rab silk liner and when I woke up the next morning my Garmin UK & Ireland] registered 11hr and 10mins of sleep! 💤

Kit from Cotswold Outdoor - I recommend it all!

Sea to Summit Ultralight Insulated Sleeping Mat - £120
Montane Mens Featherlite Down Jacket - £190
Mountain Equipment Helium 400 Sleeping Bag Regular - £250
Rab Silk Neutrino Sleeping Bag Liner - £55
Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar Multisport GPS Watch

My gym/kit room is my happy place at home! This is where my training happens and where I plan and pack for adventures.

After a few months of not being able to train properly, I have tried to make this as inviting as possible to help with the cold months ahead.

Just added a Firestick so I can watch inspiring adventure documentaries on Netflix, Prime and YouTube while training - any suggestions?

These are on the list:

Artic Post Road
Dhaulagiri
The Fifty
Breathtaking (K2)
Arigatou ()
Into the Rift ()
UTMB 2022 ()
