Tenner in advance, but no hun turned away for lack of funds x

BUFFET LUNCH have been writing pleasingly imperfect pop songs since 2017. Comprised of musicians based in Glasgow, Edinburgh and (sometimes) Newcastle, the group craft ramshackle odysseys of observational charm. Always catchy, often profound. Buffet Lunch have been previously described as a band that create ‘a hodgepodge of noises’, and who are ‘lyrically ridiculous’. Both claims are strongly denied by the group.

ERMINE FUDGE — Manchester’s resident mischief makers, sounding a bit like the Country Teasers meets the Beatles via a Hanna-Barbera cartoon. Featuring members of Starlight Magic Hour, Splint and Chermansog. Debut album Where Did All The People Go lands soon on Alphaville.

Mary Stuart aka Sterling Roswell drummed for Spacemen 3 and helped shape the sound and vision of indie space rockers The Darkside, also collaborating with Sky Sunlight Saxon and Tav Falco’s Panther Burns. Still going strong today, most recently teaming up with Jim Sclavunos (Bad Seeds) and Nina Walsh (Woodleigh Research Facility). ✨

Originally formed in Solihull in the mid-‘70s, Swell Maps helped lay the foundations for alternative rock long before the term existed. Blending the urgency of punk with experimental noise, psychedelia and DIY ambition, the band released a string of groundbreaking records before splitting in 1980, leaving a lasting influence on artists including Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Pavement, Stereolab and The Pastels.

Now, original member Jowe Head returns with a new line-up carrying that restless spirit forward. Following the release of the acclaimed comeback album C21 in 2026, Swell Maps once again bring their fearless, unpredictable sound to the stage.

Glasgow cult act (1992–1999) dealt in angular riffs, super-short songs and biting social commentary - named after Chester Brown’s comic book, beloved by John Peel (two Peel Sessions, three albums). Drummer Lawrence Worthington went on to beat the skins for The Male Nurse and Fall-worshipping art punks The Country Teasers. Rock Action rounded things up nicely with 2019 compilation Piggy Wings, and the band have since reformed with original members intact.

No Peeling - oddball punk from Nottingham’s JT Soar. Pals doing punk with blink-and-you’ll-miss-it klangs, thwacks, bloops, whoops and stories. FFO Pylon, The B-52’s and all that good stuff.

We welcome aville favourites Immersion to Salford in September. Immersion are Malka Spigel and Colin Newman best known for their work with Minimal Compact and Wire.

The project emerged in the early 1990s and has always prided itself on a diversity in approach and an ability to be both self-contained and a vehicle for collaboration. 1999’s Low Impact , 2018’s Sleepless & 2025’s WTF?? cover very different aesthetics.

Recent years have also seen Immersion collaborating with the likes of Tarwater, Laetitia Sadier, Ulrich Schnauss , Scanner, Thor Harris, Cubzoa & SUSS in their ongoing Nanocluster series of events & albums. The collaboration with SUSS took the form of a month long US tour in March / April 2025 as well as the album.
There are labors of love, and then there’s Immersion. Active since 1994, Immersion are the brainchild of husband-and-wife duo Colin Newman (of Wire fame) and Malka Spigel (best known for her work in Minimal Compact). Born out of a shared affinity for techno, Immersion have evolved into different iterations and genres over the decades. It is an ever-revolving, ever-expanding project that has run the gamut from ambient to Kosmische to techno and everything in between - Pop Matters

EARTHBALL are an avant/noise/rock band from Nanaimo, Canada — five musicians (Isabel Ford, John Brennan, Jeremy Van Wyke, Kellan Maclaughlin and Liam Murphy) operating on pure instinct, with roots in Shearing Pinx, Kamikaze Nurse and Psychedelic Dirt, and collaborations alongside Deerhoof, Raven Chacon, Chris Corsano and William Ho**er. Rooted in total improvisation, they hurtle forward in a combustion of spontaneous composition: combustible, psychedelic and different every single time.

Since forming in 2019 they’ve released six cassettes and three LPs on Upset The Rhythm, including last November’s widely acclaimed Outside Over There. Their latest, Actual Earth Music Vol. 3 & 4, captures two highlights from last winter’s European tour — a hypnotic 53-minute sprawl at Cave12 in Geneva and a scorched excerpt from Le Guess Who? Festival — proof, if any were needed, that EarthBall are one of the most vital live bands going right now.

Wendy Eisenberg has spent the past decade as a fixture of independent music and an artist of inspired multiplicity. As a singer-songwriter, improviser, and virtuoso guitarist, the coordinates of their artistry are ever-shifting, from art-rock to jazz to blistering free improv and eloquent folk. On catalog highlights including 2020’s ‘Auto’ and the 2024 free-jazz sprawler ‘Viewfinder’, they’ve made a signature of ambition.
