Tour de Forth Spotlight🔦
This week under the TDF spotlight we have John Arbuckle and here is what he had to say👇:
👉"I started cycling in spring 2016 as a way of getting fit with the additional benefits to my mental health, which wasn’t great at the time. I did my first Sportive with a gravel bike in autumn 2016 and found it great fun, despite skidding in mud and splitting my lip at one of the feeding stations! I got my first proper road bike that Christmas and I’ve enjoyed doing a handful of sportives a year ever since. It’s also given me an added dimension to foreign holidays – I’ve had a couple of great trips to Mallorca (cycling paradise!) and Asturias in north Spain (see pic, me in Red). Osteoarthritis in my ankles means running is no longer an option, so cycling is a great low-impact way of getting and keeping fit."
What attracted John to TDF?
👉"It’s local, well-organised, and I usually enter with friends, so it’s really sociable. It’s over terrain I am familiar with and it’s not too brutal. I like that there is a big charity tie-in with it too. I’ve really missed having full-on events like this because of the pandemic so it’s great that it’s back in the flesh"
Remember you only have until the 6th of June to sign up...you know you want too👇:
