Do you fancy making some medals? 🥇 🏅 🎖️

In the run-up to the Exmouth Festival, and to remain thrifty, we're going to be making medals from shells and recycled ribbons in the Sideshore Community Hub next Wednesday between 1 and 4pm. Come and join us! No previous experience required.

We'll be awarding anyone who cycles to the festival with one of these medals at the Cycle Hub in the Strand.

What an amazing day we had on Saturday at our Thrift Day.
The room was a buzz of activity and conversation, as people made bunting, drums, pompoms, macrame, nail art, planters and fabric flowers, listened to talks on how to cut your waste, tried vegan cakes, biscuits and soups from the cafe, learned drumming, how to make their own cleaning and beauty products, about recycling and turning books into seed bombs and the importance of moss, had bicycles fixed and found free items in our clothes swap.

What a lovely bunch of people turned up to the bunting session yesterday! We had a lot of experienced sewers, and others who wanted to learn how to make bunting - and what better way to learn?
Although we look quite serious in these photos it was very fun and social.
Thanks to the Project X - Kitchen Takeover for making us feel so at home, and to all of you who came and gave their time and skills to the bunting project. It's going to look fab in the summer, fluttering in the breeze!

A successful silver workshop with Exmouth school of jewellery yesterday!
Hayley showed the group how to refashion an old unwanted silver item such as a spoon into a new bespoke ring. Very thrifty!
Work like this has to be done in small groups due to the safety aspects, which can put the costs out of reach. At Magpies we provide free and low cost activities to make creativity accessible to all.
