Also joining us this year at the food festival,
Yvette Farrell – Principal - Harts Barn Cookery School
Harts Barn Cookery School is based in the beautiful Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, built to showcase its historic and picturesque surroundings. At it's heart - a magnificent Norman Hunting Lodge, one of the oldest properties in the area built by WilliamDuke of Normandy in 1068. The historic farm site has a 17th century working cider mill and press, and its heritage pear and apple Orchards today make traditional cider, perry and beautiful juices.
Yvette herself was born on a country estate and grew up gathering blackberries, nuts and wild garlic. Community too featured heavily from childhood, for instance, when in Scotland, Yvette exchanged eggs with thetrawlers for fresh fish! From those years a passion for the land and its harvest developed, leading to 16 years working in Horticulture gaining extensive plant knowledge and associations with food.
From opening an award winning Organic Farm shop with Cafe and Deli, Yvette now runs Harts Barn with a strong ethos of offering "Cooking for All," including giving care and tuition to those with special needs.
