Carrickmacross Emmets 7:00 PM
Referee: Niall Mc Kenna
This weeks notes....
Our senior men had a good win over Clones on Tuesday past in the league Q/F.
In an open and end to end match the teams matched each other point for point until the 20th minute when the Faughs got a few scores ahead and went in at half time 0-08 to 0-05 up.
Our quality of play was upped a bit in the second half but Clones never let us extend the lead and with 5 mins remaining there was only 3 points in it.
The lads pulled away in the final stretch to leave the final score Blayney 0-18, Clones 0-11.
We now face Carrickmacross tonight (Saturday) in the S/F, throw-in at 7.00 in Carrick.
Best wishes to the lads.
Our senior men second reserve team travelled to Clontibret in the league S/F.
The lads dug deep and got the win to take them into the final against Truagh due to be played next week.
The reserve team have a league semi final to look to away to Inniskeen.
The u17 boys are up and running after an extended layoff due to the recent exploits of the county minors. We are 2 from 2 after good wins at home to Carrick and then away to Killanny. Next up is a game next Tuesday against Truagh.
Unfortunately the u17 B team were beat in the semi final against the Harps on Friday night. Despite a good performance, it was the old story of goals winning games and with the Harps scoring 6, it just wasn't our day. Final score Harps 6-09, Faughs 1-17.
On the same night the u15 B team took on Carrick in the u15 final. With a sluggish start we went in 2-06 to 0-03 down. In an amazing turnaround, the lads took complete control in the second half and kept Carrick scoreless until the last few minutes. Indeed they went 2 ahead going into the final stretch, but Carrick fought back to draw the game and take it into extra time.
With the lads out on their feet at this stage it just wasn't to be our night and Carrick won it by 5. Well done to the players and mgmt. Great heart and determination will stand to these lads in the future.
Only a week out from the festival, we are looking bar staff, Bar B Que staff, young workers to help stock the bars etc, stewards and volunteers to help get the grounds ready, to help with painting, bunting, spraying, etc... if you're available for any duties, please get in touch.
