🥀Well, the last bloom has finally wilted on the Donington Flower Festival 2026.🥀

It has been such a pleasure to welcome both residents and visitors into our community during this very special 60th anniversary year of the festival. Thank you to everyone who came along, admired the displays, enjoyed the cakes, tried their luck on the tombola and helped make the week such a success.

Here are just a few photographs of this year’s beautiful diamond-themed floral displays. No doubt plenty more will appear across Facebook over the coming days to help us all cope with the emotional strain of having to wait an entire year for the next festival.

And finally, a heartfelt thank you to the incredible volunteers who dedicated so much time, energy and effort to the festival. From fundraising and organising stalls to creating the displays and running the lunch service with near-military precision, they have worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

They truly embody community spirit, and our village is very lucky to have them! 🍀

🥀 FINAL DAY 🥀

Well, dear friends, the final day of the Donington Flower Festival 2026 has arrived.

Over the past week, it has been such a joy to welcome so many visitors during this very special 60th anniversary year celebrating creativity, community and a slightly alarming quantity of cake.

Now, before anyone reaches for the Kleenex (other tissue brands are available), there is still time for one final visit. The festival is open today from 10am–4pm, offering a last chance to enjoy a thoroughly lovely day out.

Inside the church, you’ll find the stunning diamond-themed floral displays, while outside the churchyard is gloriously in bloom.

Meanwhile, across in the church hall, lunches, homemade cakes, plants, gifts, bric-a-brac and other temptations await.

Our wonderful volunteers have worked tremendously hard to create an event with something for everyone, and it would be a terrible shame to spend the rest of 2026 listening to everybody else saying, “Oh, didn’t you go?”

08/05/2026

It’s coming up to that most celebrated hour… lunchtime!

Pop along to the church hall, where the following delights are being served up today:

🥓 Bacon Bap — £3

🍖 Ham Salad — £5

🥩 Steak or Chicken Pie (served with new potatoes and veg) — £5.50

🥔 Jacket Potatoes — £3
(Tuna mayo, cheese, baked beans or coleslaw available for an extra 50p each)

🥪 Sandwiches — £3
(Fillings as above, served with crisps and garnish)

🧁 Bread and Butter Pudding — £3
(With cream or ice cream)

Tea and coffee are also available, and you can even pick up some homemade cakes for your afternoon pick-me-up.

After all, it is Friday so diets don’t count. (This is personal opinion, not medical advice.)

Okay everyone, don’t panic, but we’re down to the last couple of days of the festival.

Now, don’t start weeping like a willow just yet, there’s still plenty to enjoy before we bring the curtain down on this very special 60th anniversary year.

Open daily from 10am–4pm until 9th May, the church is filled with beautiful diamond-themed floral displays, all lovingly created for the festival.

Across the road in the church hall, lunches and hot drinks are being served alongside stalls selling plants, gifts, homemade cakes and bric-a-brac. There’s even have a tombola (after all, we are a respectable village).

So do come and enjoy the beautifully kept churchyard, the flowers and all the delights of the festival before it’s too late.

Remember, when someone asks where you were between 1st–9th May 2026, you’ll want the satisfaction of replying, “The Donington Flower Festival, of course!”

🌻 2 DAYS TO GO 🌻

We have the wonderful Izzy King joining us from 2pm on the 3rd and 5th of May, creating an extra special atmosphere with her beautiful organ music.

We even have something arranged to prevent the blues of the festivities drawing to a close. We will be hosting a ploughman’s lunch on Sunday 10th May, served with Eton Mess and tea or coffee. Do have a look at the poster attached to book your spot as places are limited.

🪴4 DAYS TO GO 🪴

Today’s countdown comes to you with a special announcement…

We’re delighted to share that Izzy King will be joining us at the church on Sunday 3rd May (time TBC), working her magic on the organ. Her beautiful music will be the perfect accompaniment to the floral displays.

Of course, as is village tradition (and possibly a legal requirement), there will also be refreshments and stalls over in the church hall. Homemade cakes, a tombola, plants, and gifts - we have all the essentials covered.

It’s shaping up to be a rather lovely day, with something for everyone. Whether you come for the flowers, the music, or to spend the day at the cake stand, we’re not going to judge!
