Ever thought about ‘entering an event’ doing something you never thought was possible as well as raising money for charity? …Then why not do something different and come and be part of Team100. If you’ve had plans to ‘get fit’ to even ‘take part in a run or 'event ’ then this is a challenge to meet head on whilst making a difference for those that can’t.
2017 will see a team of 100 runners (hope
fully more) take part in the Great South Run as a member of Team100, each raising £100 for ‘Invest in ME. is a long-term (chronic), fluctuating, neurological condition that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems. affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide. experience severe, persistent fatigue associated with post-exertional malaise, the body’s inability to recover after expending even small amounts of energy, leading to a flare-up in symptoms. Invest in ME not your usual charity: http://www.investinme.org/landerP5.shtml
This is a local charity that gets very little exposure and support, so isn’t time we looked at helping ‘the little guy’? A lot of sufferers have been quoted as saying ‘I’d give anything to have my life back’. So let’s do something for these people, together, starting now. Why am I doing this? Because at times we all take our health for granted and training for and competing in an event, whether a tough mudder, a 10K/10 mile run, a marathon or a Triathlon, is opposite to what ME sufferers can do. They don’t have this luxury, they don’t have the luxury of a ‘normal’ everyday life and is the reason I am reaching out to you for help. The irony of this illness is that for those affected such every day activities such as washing dressing and even eating a meal can leave the sufferer feeling like they have completed a marathon. We’ll be holding a number training meets throughout the summer, once a month, leading up to the Great South Run in October 2017. On the day we will have a music station at the GSR on the course, and a ‘champagne celebration’ at the end of the race to celebrate our success. All money raised will go towards research into finding a cure for this debilitating and very much understood illness. So come and join the team and wear your Team100 Runners Shirt on the day with pride. Run with Team100 – you’ll be making a real difference.
