Welcome to the Shrewsbury Summer of Wellbeing
I thought it was time I introduced myself and shared the inspiration behind this beautiful initiative.
Hi, I’m Annie — barefoot in the grass, coffee in hand, wife and mama to two wild and wonderful little souls. I’m a psychotherapist and community wellbeing advocate, and I’m utterly passionate about this magical place I get to call home — Shrewsbury.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked in mental health, counselling, and community outreach. I’ve organised grassroots events, supported local charities, and walked alongside people through life’s highs and lows - and have had a few of my own. And one thing has always stood out: connection, safety, and community are the true foundations of wellbeing.
So, what is the Summer of Wellbeing?
An open-hearted programme of workshops, trails, mindful pop-ups, and sensory moments, all sprinkled across Shrewsbury. It’s made for everyone — families, creatives, quiet wanderers, and joyful souls seeking a little more space to breathe.
From barefoot walks to sound baths, art pop-ups to storytelling, mindful cafés to stand-up comedy, book swaps to live music…
This summer is about experiencing Shrewsbury in a joyful new way — slowing down, switching off, trying something new, making meaningful connections, and feeling part of something beautifully local.
Because wellbeing belongs to all of us.
And it doesn’t have to look like bubble baths and yoga poses (though we’ve got those too).
It might look like…
Sketching quietly with a coffee
A kind conversation with a stranger
Watching a story come alive
A barefoot walk under the trees
However it looks for you — you’re welcome here.
Come join us this summer
Whether you’re collecting stamps on the Passport to Wellbeing, wandering the Mindful Meander, or joining a creative workshop — this season is here for you.
A special thank you to the wonderful Original Shrewsbury for supporting this project and trusting my vision.
