We were delighted to have Early Bird at our inaugural festival last year - and will be welcoming them back this year (more of that nearer the time). But you don’t have to wait until October to hear them! On May 10th they will be performing at Salisbury’s Medieval Hall. An ancient song about a Lime tree has inspired the programme. The melody was included in Jacob van Eyck’s collection of recorder tunes called ‘Der Fluyten Lust-hof’ (The Flutist’s Pleasure Garden). An even earlier song about a small, delicate flower leads us to a piece for guitar which is hot off the press, telling the story of a rose. And, as you would expect from Early Bird, these fragrant offerings are surrounded by more substantial Baroque sonatas, dances and variations, both familiar and rarely-performed, including music by Purcell, Geminiani and Handel.
Sunday, 10th May at 3pm - The Medieval Hall, Cathedral Close, Salisbury SP1 2EY
