Our next Peace Talk speaker is Lianne Kirkman- the Founder and Director of The Esther Project.

In 2015, she established the King’s Award-winning Helping Hands Community Project as a
registered charity, leading its impactful work for a decade.

Recognising that domestic abuse is the leading cause of female homelessness-and noting a critical gap in gender-specific services- Lianne launched The Esther Project as a separate entity to provide a dedicated lifeline for women.

Today, The Esther Project operates Esther House, a safe, 7- bedroom women-only residence, with more gender-specific accommodation opening soon!

The Esther Project launched Warwickshire’s first women-only hub and shop space in December 2025 in Leamington Spa, with plans to expand women-only hubs into other areas of the county. The project delivers essential weekly support, including professional counselling, therapeutic workshops, and tailored employability pathways.

Looking forward, Lianne is driving visionary plans to develop a rural farm property designed specifically for women with complex trauma needs, offering them true hope, a secure future, and the opportunity to live independent lives.

Lianne will be speaking on the Bandstand stage at 12:45 on Saturday 13th June.

Introducing our next peace talk: Finding inner peace in times of personal trauma by Adam Wood.

Towards the end of 2025, Adam’s world was turned upside down when he received a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness.
After a lifetime of almost perfect health - two visits to the GP in fifteen years - Adam was told he had Stage 4 advanced prostate cancer, with the disease having spread into his bones and lymph nodes.

But rather than focussing on the negative impact this news brought, Adam has found peace within himself as to his illness, and has been recording his journey on a weekly podcast, sharing his experiences and thoughts alongside eighteen weeks of chemotherapy, and then radiotherapy. Reaction to the podcast has been fantastic, with listeners taking that step to get tested, and to have their mind put to rest about a certain procedure thanks to Adam describing his journey in the words of a ’normal’ bloke, rather than a medical booklet.

Listen at adamwood55.podbean.com

Adam will be speaking on the Riverside Marquee Stage at 2.45pm on Saturday 13th June.

Volunteers are invited to attend our induction evening on Tuesday 2nd June at 7pm at The Fox & Vivian, where we’ll cover everything you need to know, including festival procedures, safeguarding, and the different ways you can get involved. It’s also a great chance to meet other volunteers and the festival team.

No previous experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to help create a welcoming, inclusive event for the community.

If you’d like to get involved or find out more, please get in touch. We’d love to welcome you to the Peace Festival family!
