DOCTOR WHO: SPEARHEAD FROM SPACE (1970) is coming to Lumiere this weekend.

Jon Pertwee’s first story as The Doctor begins with a meteor shower, uncanny shop-window dummies, and an invasion that rewrites the rules of the series. It is the start of the colour era, and we are screening the complete story as part of our monthly run through Classic Who.

Please book early. Doctor Who licences are expensive, and if we cannot cover the screening costs we will have to cancel.

EXHIBITION ON SCREEN: JAMES McNEILL WHISTLER

This Tuesday at 6.30pm, we are bringing the extraordinary world of James McNeill Whistler to the big screen at Lumiere Cinema Romford.

In an era of great change and great beauty, Whistler disrupted Victorian convention in pursuit of “art for art’s sake”. From the tonal harmonies of his nocturnes to the iconic Whistler’s Mother, this film unveils the artist behind the art, with Tate Britain’s major retrospective as its centrepiece.
