One week to go until some of the world's most spectacular kites take to the skies at Redcar Kite Festival on Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 June. As well as some incredible kite displays, we have some fantastic free workshops and activities throughout the weekend.
🪁Make your own kite with the fantastic Infinite Arts. No need to book - just drop in to our Marquees by the Sea then head to the beach to fly your kite. You will be amazed how well they fly!
☎️Let the Tees Women Poets weave your words and wishes into lovely lyrics. Watch out for mesmerizing group performances at the bandstand; talk to wandering bards about your festival experiences; or simply take a peaceful moment to whisper a wish into the blue over their sparkling Wind Phone - connected by love to nowhere and everywhere...
🌈 Colour the sky with Nutkhut Block print onto fabric panels using designs drawn from Basant — the centuries-old South Asian spring kite festival. Each family adds one printed panel to a growing fabric tail. By late afternoon that tail is twenty metres long, made by up to seventy families in a single day. Now watch it fly!
🦀 Discover the magic of rock pooling and the secrets of our shores with the amazing Rockpool School
🐚 Learn about local fossils with the Rock Showman as Yorkshire Fossil Festival present fossil polishing workshops in the Earth Science Outreach UK gazebo; talks and family friendly fossil walks (small charge for some of these)
🎨 Origami workshop with artist Adam Bligh. Discover the Japanese art of paper folding
🪄 Dandelion wand making with Adele Stirland and creative babes club
🥫🥫Join artist Suzie Devey in the teeny tiny phone box Two Tin Cans printing studio and create some amazing prints of kites

Final music announcements for this year's Kite Festival. This is for our Bandstand Stage once again programmed by Little Miss Music Promotions And what a line up it is!
Saturday 6 June
12.30pm George Bailey - Teesside indie/folk/rock artist with raw northern edge creating music that is both intimate and powerful
1.30pm Naomi Kelly - Described by NARC magazine as a style that “wouldn’t go amiss in a playlist with names like Grace Petrie and Lucy Spraggan”, Naomi Kelly’s style is a unique blend of indie, folk, and pop music - combining to create their distinctly homegrown sound.
3.30pm Max York - an exciting new talent from the heart of the Tees Valley. Blending indie, folk, and pop rock with emotive song writing and soaring lyrics, his music explores his own experiences of love, loss, and growing up in our volatile modern world.
4.30 Finlay Dobing - Hartlepool born, Newcastle based singer songwriter drawing from influences such as Elliott Smith, The Beatles, Phoebe Bridgers and Jack White.

Sunday 7 June
12.30 Youth Music - Noah AJC & Abby Lou.
Noah AJC is a rising pop artist turning personal stories into infectious, emotionally-charged music. Their journey began at just 12 years old through a local youth music programme (Tuned In! 2 Music), where a passion for song writing and performance quickly took shape.
Abby Lou from Middlesbrough has loved singing for as long as she can remember. Her biggest musical inspirations are Taylor Swift and Lizzy McAlpine. Her songs are honest, emotional, and probably a bit too specific!
1.30 Alfie Hopwood - 17 year old singer/songwriter from Redcar performing original music and a few mod/britpop covers.
2.30 J P Riggall - A versatile multi-instrumentalist and storytelling with a penchant for creating rich, cinematic sonic worlds.
4.30 Annie Lince - singer and guitarist Annie has a repertoire that ranges from 60s hits to modern classics so there really is something for everyone.
