Premise:
Viles is a short film in the thriller/horror genre that follows a group of thieves, with the story centered around the character Araña. As the plot unfolds, Araña's decisions lead the group to an unexpected ending where he faces a harsh reality. The narrative explores the idea that not everything can be perfect and that, by opening doors in search of what we desire, we encounter our darkest nightmares. The mind becomes an unyielding prison, and escape seems impossible. The unsettling question, "Are you still dreaming? Wake up!", challenges the character and pushes the audience to confront their fears and the boundary between reality and illusion.

Premise:
Megan Turner is done playing nice. Years of misogyny, humiliation, and workplace secrets have pushed her to breaking point, and her arrogant boss, Gavin Jerome, is the final straw. A master manipulator who has escaped accountability for years, Gavin may finally have met his match. Time to Go is a darkly comic thriller that follows Megan’s meticulously planned attempt to get rid of him for good. As detectives investigate, the story shifts between Megan’s sharp, fourth-wall-breaking narration and a reality where truth, fantasy, and guilt begin to blur.

We’ve had a lot of new followers recently, so we thought it was probably time to do another little ‘who are we?’ post.

We’re Su and John - filmmakers - who, after more than a decade of submitting our own films to film festivals, eventually decided to run one ourselves.

And, maybe most importantly, to try and make it as filmmaker-friendly as possible.

We personally watch every film submitted to us before passing them on to our judging panel for the final selections, because we know how much time, money, energy and, quite often, emotional stability goes into making a short film. The least we can do is watch it.

As well as running the festival - which we’re genuinely passionate about - we also make our own short films and commissioned music videos.

At the moment, we’re currently in post-production on our short film Rage, in production on Algo, and crowdfunding for The Inexplicable Weight of Waiting

We’re also in post-production on a music video for one of our favourite artists, and in pre-production on a short film for World Mental Health Day.

So yes... we’re busy.

But if you love what you do (and thankfully, we do), is it ever really work?

The festival is now heading into its second year, following our sold-out first event, and we genuinely can’t wait to bring even more brilliant short films and music videos to Preston next March for our two-day screening event.

So, that’s us.

Filmmakers. Festival organisers. Professional film-watchers. Occasionally tired. Always enthusiastic.

Premise:
As India was breaking the shackles of colonial rule, so was a young boy Shambhu Kumar Kasliwal emerging from an impoverished background. With no capital, but deep conviction, he took a leap of faith and came to the city of dreams from his little hometown and tried his luck in the narrow lanes of Bombay.

Guided by a generous mentor and driven by relentless work, Shambhu Kumar began building what would become S.Kumars. As his elder brother, other partners, and several dealers joined the journey, Shambhu Kumar’s company expanded its network, pioneered new fabric blends and innovated marketing techniques.
So much so that S.Kumars moved beyond just a trusted brand in fabrics into the everyday life of all Indians until it became part of India's pop culture.

The 1990s brought in a new era for the company: public growth, international collaborations, and the involvement of Rajkumari, Shambhu Kumar's wife and source of strength, in the business. Through change, pressures and successes, the film returns to the values at the heart of the journey: honest business, kindness, resilience, family and faith.
After 75 years at the helm, the progressive Shambhu Kumar passes his life's work to two very unexpected candidates from his third generation, leaving behind not only a business, but a living inheritance of courage and character and so much more...
