A huge thank you to Pop Collectives Fund, through Urban Art Collective, for helping to fund Safety Through Solidarity.

The funding helped us cover printing costs, art materials and a small contribution towards the venue, with the remaining funding going towards a new public mural, which is currently in progress and will be painted by Jess.

We're really grateful for the support, which has helped us bring the event together and continue creating spaces for art, connection, community and solidarity.

Other information

Refreshments

Leadworks Bar will be open throughout the event for drinks and snacks. If you can, please support our venue by purchasing refreshments while you're there.

Please keep in mind that the event runs over lunchtime. This is a relaxed drop-in/drop-out space, so if you need to pop out to get food, that's absolutely fine.

Accessibility

Our event will be held on the ground floor, which is flat and has no stairs. There is a very slight lip/incline at the entrance. Toilets are located downstairs, to the left as you come in, and are gender-neutral and accessible.

For the Solidarity Walk, we've chosen a route which is predominantly flat and pedestrianised. However, there are a few roads to cross on the way there and back. There is also a slight incline going up Cornwall Street and a decline down New George Street.

If you need any more information about the route or accessibility, please refer to our Solidarity Walk post or send us a message.

Weather

The weather forecast is currently looking sunny and dry! ☀️ If you're joining the Solidarity Walk, please consider bringing a parasol/umbrella and suncream if needed. Bring plenty of water and wear sensible, comfortable footwear.

Parking

There is free on street parking on Rendle Street outside Leadworks for 1 hour no return in 3 hours (although please refer to signage as info may differ).
Western Approach Car Park is located approx. 5-10min walk from Leadworks with plenty of parking availability for £6.50 all day.

Here is another speaker who will be taking part in Safety Through Solidarity, Julie from Stand Up To Racism.
"Stand Up To Racism is an anti-racist organisation bringing people together to campaign against racism, fascism, Islamophobia and antisemitism. At Safety Through Solidarity, we stand against divisive narratives that weaponize women’s safety and gender-based violence. We are pleased to have Julie on behalf of Stand Up To Racism, who campaign against women’s safety being used as a tool for racism."

Another speaker spotlight! We will be having Ellie representing Citizens Advice, who provide a vital service for all.
"We are Citizens Advice - the people's champion. We give people the knowledge and confidence they need to find their way forward - whoever they are, and whatever their problem.
We are here to help everyone who needs it with practical advice you can really trust. Our national charity and network of local charities offer confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person, for free.
No one else sees so many people with so many different kinds of problems, and that gives us a unique and unmatched understanding of the issues that are affecting people in our society. We’re a voice for the people we help. With our evidence, we can advocate for changes to the government policies and industry practices that we know make life hard for people.”
