Peterborough Heritage Festival: we’ve had many enquiries about our famous real ale and real art tent not being at this year’s heritage festival. We know we’re missed by other stall holders, re-enactors, the public and the hardworking Vivacity volunteers and of course the thirsty clergy and choristers.

Vivacity took their decision for ‘commercial reasons’ and we respect that decision and we wish the Hook Norton Bar success.

However, it does feel incongruous that a local heritage festival sees fit not to support local traders and enterprises. The Castor Ales previous presence at the heritage promotes local artists and performers, and the infrastructure that goes into providing the ‘beer tent areas’ is provided at minimum costs by a group of Castor and Ailsworth residents.

Anyway we’re a pretty sanguine bunch, and like Glastonbury we feel a fallow year was probably needed by us and the festival. We hope to be back next year, bigger and better providing quality beer and great service, with the usual mix of eclectic art, craft and performances.

Thanks Peterborough folk:

Duncan, Gill, Smylie, Jim, John, Chris, Ian, James, Andy and Helen. xx
