This year we had a scaled back version of the event so with this a slightly different concept was adopted, Alison & Jess were baking The Stone of Destiny so what better to hold centre place than this, with 2024 seeing the return of the stone to The new Perth Museum I thought let’s create a compass signifying all directions in which the stone has traveled.
North ,South ,East , West .
The Stone of Destiny holds many a tale, and
the rows of assorted biscuits signify the roads , in which it’s traveled…
All the cakes inbetween each road bringing together Perth & Kinross .

The bakers parade 🎂
And a little history….

Back in the 16th century St.Obert was selected by the bakers of Perth as their patron , every year on the 10th of December a Parade of bakers took place in St.Oberts honour, with bakers carrying torches , dancing , piping and drumming.
It was a spirited parade which always included a horse wearing a man’s shoes and someone always wore ‘The Devils Coat’. The church was not happy and tried many times to have the parade banned.
The bakers ignored the church’s complaints and carried on for years, but in 1588 it was decreed that anyone who took part in the parade would be banished from the town , this finished the tradition until it was taken back in 2017 when CakeFest was introduced as part of Perths winter festival 🎂❄️
