A lovely wee film about our island home

Working on a new fleece today with volcano colours. Fleece transformation involves scaffolding netting , soap , water and elbow grease . Pip and Froome are “guarding “ the skirted fleece - that the daggy (with poo attached) and dangly bits .

Change of days for the paddleboarding - Saturday (tomorrow) and Monday (Sunday = recovery day after the Litter Pickers Ceilidh on Saturday!) Can't wait! 🏝🌊☀️

A beautiful Hebridean Shearling fleece from Oransay felted with some added sunset colours . This one is destined for auction . More felted rugs and seat pads are available in the wonderful .

A gift from our neighbour Andrew Abrahams . This is Scottish bluebell honey fresh from the hive and is utterly delicious , a taste of bluebells on the tongue . If you are on the island you can purchase the best honey in the world of Colonsay

Against all advice and in the teeth of a biting wind we have planted a small orchard on the croft . Thanks to https://plantsandapples.com/varieties/ for supplying the trees . We have 5 apples , 2 pears (no partridges on Colonsay ) , a damson and 2 gages. My best name ever for an apple has to be The Bloody Ploughman, a crisp red skinned apple with Red tinged flesh. The story is that a gamekeeper shot dead a ploughman caught stealing apples from the Megginch Estate. When his body was returned to his wife, she found stolen apples in his pockets and threw them onto a rubbish heap. One of the resulting seedlings bore apples of a deep, blood red. This tree gave rise to the cultivar that was named after the unfortunate ploughman. apples
