Gala Night at Mevagissey Shanty Festival 2026 introducing Nordet Chants de Marins, all the way from Brittany, France. Recently performing at Bie Daip Appingedam, and now bring their Gallic magic to Mevagissey Shanty Festival 2026….

The gala night is a chance to start our festival weekend with a grand night out. Inside our marquee, you will be entertained Keltek Brewery main stage. Food from the The Fish Grill & more on the Jetty and drink fine b**rs generously provided for us by our main sponsor Keltek Brewery

Just 4 weeks now until our Gala Night at Mevagissey Shanty Festival 2026 and we're going to start to introduce our 2026 Festival line up, starting with our Gala night entertainers.

We start with our own Stuns'ls , and what a lovely lot they are!
They're a light hearted bunch that just loves to make those harmonies ring.
They love to perform both internationally and locally; as part of fundraising efforts, to entertain visiting royalty, cruise ship passengers or wedding parties, and in Meva we love to see them each month at The Fountain Inn, Mevagissey.

Most of you will know that Mevagissey Shanty Festival 2026 was started by Tristan from the Stuns'ls as a way to have a fun weekend while bringing much-needed revenue to the village and surrounding area out of the main holiday season, with any money raised after covering costs to be given to local causes to benefit the community. To honour his commitment to Cornwall's heritage, he was made a Cornish Bardh a year ago, his bardic name is Bardh Lannvorek, the Bardh of Mevagissey.

We’re delighted to share our final donation from our 2025 Meva Shanty Fest is a £500 donation towards a new oven at Mevagissey Jubilee Hall.

The Jubilee Hall is a brilliant community space at the heart of our village. It’s used weekly throughout spring and summer for craft fairs, for events during Mevagissey Feast Week in June🐟, the Entertainers give us an annual panto 🎭, for numerous fundraisers🎟️💰, as well as being a venue and green room for our Mevagissey Shanty Festival 2026 🎶🎶🎶, AND it’s available to hire…

The new oven will make catering at all these events so much easier 🥘🍛🥟🍺🍻

Keslowena to these 21 fantastic people, for their work for Kernow. Twenty-one new bards will be welcomed into the College of Bards of Gorsedh Kernow at Bodmin on 5th September 2026 by the Grand Bard of Cornwall, Jenefer Lowe, Gwythvosen, in recognition of their outstanding work in serving Cornwall.

Gorsedh Kernow was established with the aim of celebrating and promoting Cornwall’s distinctive Celtic culture and many of this year’s new bards are honoured for working in their community to nurture and promote Cornish culture.

The annual procession of bards and installation of the 21 new initiates into the College of Bards will take place on Saturday 5th September at 2pm. The ceremony will be held in Bodmin and is part of the Esedhvos Festival of Cornish Culture. The ceremony will be led by the Grand Bard of Cornwall, Jenefer Lowe, Gwythvosen.

The bardic names of the 21 new bards will also be made known for the first time at this ceremony, which will be conducted in the Cornish language although it can be followed easily with the English translation in the Ceremony Booklets. All are welcome to attend the ceremony and there is no charge for this event.
