Things That Frustrate Wedding DJs – Part 2: Venue Edition

We all love working at wedding venues, but every DJ will know some of these ones… 😂

❌ Failing to mention the 85dB sound limiter until you’re halfway through setting up. It happens, I always ask in advance when I send my documents over 👌🏼

❌ Access and logistics that feel like a trip to a Wetherspoons toilet. Through a corridor, down some stairs, through a kitchen, round a corner, up another staircase… you get the idea.

❌ Putting the bar in a completely different room to the dance floor. Nothing empties a packed dance floor faster than sending everyone on a mission for their next drink! 🍻

To be fair, every venue has its quirks, and I’ve worked with some amazing teams, and luckily never a bad one.

Things That Frustrate Wedding DJs

Part 1: Guest Edition

We’ve seen it all… 😂

❌ Requesting a song… then sitting down when it comes on. I mean if you’re gona change things up, take ownership

❌ Leaving drinks on the dance floor (one kick and it’s game over 🍺) Let’s all stop dancing whilst staff mop up the mess 👀

❌ Telling the DJ “play this next”! I’ll tell you a secret… it rarely comes ‘next’ 😂

Having moments of reset are completely normal throughout an evening where we want people dancing all night!

People get tired, thirsty, hungry and have a catch up with people they haven’t seen for some time!

Your DJ should know how to handle this and know exactly when to switch it up and go in for round 2 and close the night on a high 🙌🏻
