We recently had an unexpected extended stay in Dawson City (a great place to get stuck by the way!). We were lucky to be able to stay at the fantastic Bombay Peggy's Inn & Pub. Great rooms, great bar and fantastic staff. We can thoroughly recommend it as the place to stay in Dawson.

If you find yourself there, whatever the weather, we can also totally recommend The Klondike Experience for all your exploring and adventure needs. Jesse was brilliant at coming up with a solution for the particular conundrum we had! Thank you!

Love Visit Dawson City. Looking forward to getting back next year.

Event Summary: Fat Bike Weekend Warrior 2026
March 19th to March 21st

6 x riders began the race during the early hours in a dark and cold Inuvik in -30ºc temperatures.

Day 1 provided typical weather for the region at this time of year – but still an extreme environment.

Although being correctly prepared, Louise Minchin and Mimi Anderson were medically withdrawn from the race towards the end of Day 1 – The entire 66 Adventure team would like to wish them well during their recovery.

The weather then began to take a turn for the worse partway through Day 2.

With strong winds and poor visibility coming in fast, Day 3 presented conditions so dangerous that the event had to be called off. Visibility was so poor that racers couldn’t even be seen at very short distances and the authorities made the decision to close the ice road.

At the time of calling the event off, two bikers were still in the Weekend Warrior event.

Checkpoint times and tracker information at the calling off point provided us with the information needed to award the two finalists:

1st – Lorrie L**h, from Canada
2nd – Jessie Gladish, from Canada

After a full team effort, tremendous support from the local ice road authorities, and the mayor of Inuvik working wonders to get everyone back safely and sheltered for the night, everyone was accounted for.

Despite the race being called off on the last day, we still went ahead with the end-of-event celebrations alongside the Northern Light Ultra participants. An opportunity not only to celebrate our finalists of each event, but to recognise the hard work and dedication of every athlete that stepped up to the start line, the months of preparation that goes into these events, and the support from families and friends of the athletes.

Some of the Ultra’s Marathon Stage-only racers also joined us. They had received news with just one day’s notice that their event wasn’t going ahead.

We would like to thank all athletes across the three events for how they responded to the challenges faced and the respect shown for the safety of participants and crew.

Event Summary: Northern Lights Ultra 2026
March 18th to March 21st

10 x racers began the ultramarathon in a bright but cold Fort McPherson in -28ºc temperatures.

Day 1 and Day 2 provided typical weather for the region at this time of year.
Nothing out of the ordinary until Day 3 when the weather began to take a turn for the worse, seeing some of the lowest temperatures for this area and increased wind conditions causing large areas of the course to be blown over.

2 x athletes remained in the event as we entered Day 4. With strong winds and poor visibility coming in fast, this stage presented conditions so dangerous that the event had to be called off. Visibility was so poor that racers couldn’t even be seen at very short distances and the authorities made the decision to close the ice road.

Checkpoint times and tracker information at the calling off point provided us with the information needed to award the two finalists:

1st – Lukasz Adamczyk, from Poland
2nd – Philip Carpenter, from England

After a full team effort, tremendous support from the local ice road authorities, and the mayor of Inuvik working wonders to get everyone back safely and sheltered for the night, everyone was accounted for.

Despite the race being called off on the last day, we still went ahead with the end-of-event celebrations alongside the Weekend Warrior Fat Bike Challenge participants. An opportunity not only to celebrate our finalists of each event, but to recognise the hard work and dedication of every athlete that stepped up to the start line, the months of preparation that goes into these events, and the support from families and friends of the athletes.

Some of the Marathon Stage-only racers also joined us. They had received news with just one day’s notice that their event wasn’t going ahead.

🚨 Appreciation post! 🚨

Putting on a race, especially a series of events takes a team of people, people we rely on. There’s so many individuals to thank, but we just wanted to say some big thank yous.

First of all, huge thanks to the Gwich'in Tribal Council & the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation. Thank you for hosting us in this beautiful part of the world.

We would also like to thank the Town of Inuvik , Fort McPherson and Aklavik, particularly the Mackenzie Hotel in Inuvik, the Moose Kerr School in Aklavik and the Tetlit Zheh Christian Fellowship Church in Fort McPherson for hosting all our competitors.

We’d also like to thank Driving Force, especially the branches in Inuvik and Whitehorse who have kept us rolling, providing vehicles for all our amazing crew and support vehicles.

Massive thanks as always to North Star Mini Storage in Whitehorse who have helped us for years as well as Total North for the Sat phones and radios. We couldn’t do it without you.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to Brendan Callahan of Callahan Catering, who stepped in after our original caterer pulled out last minute. Brendan did an amazing job, preparing food for all our competitors, pulling off a massive shift on his birthday. Thank you so much Brendan, you’re a hero!

Lastly a huge thank you to all the crew from around the world. It’s a full on few days and you all smashed it!

🚨🚨🚨 Northern Lights Marathon 🚨🚨🚨

Unfortunately due to conditions on the ice road into Inuvik, we’ve taken the decision to cancel the Northern Lights Marathon on Sunday the 22nd March.

The safety of all our competitors and crew is of the utmost importance and with conditions how they are it would be a risk too far.

To competitors, we will be in touch shortly with further details.
