Introducing our Friends scheme for 2026!

If you choose to become a Friend, you will be able to book free entry to one of our 3 online workshops, which will be running between May and September. These workshops feature poets from the Poetry in Aldeburgh team and are exclusive to Friends.

You will also receive priority booking when the programme is announced in early summer, and the opportunity to book 4 workshops (2 before general booking is open, and another 2 workshops after general booking starts) – we normally cap at 2 workshops per person. Our workshops are extremely popular, so this gives you an extraordinary chance to book early with your favourite poets.

As always, we will reward you by listing your name in the programme and on the website. The cost of becoming a Friend is only £60, which we hope you think is wonderful value for what you receive. We couldn’t run the festival without your support. 🩵 🌊

We are back for more poetry on Tuesday 21st April at the wonderful Socialbar💙

We are delighted to have Eliza O'Toole as our guest speaker this month. Eliza O'Toole’s poems have appeared in Shearsman magazine, The Rialto, Tears in the Fence, Poetry Review, Wet Grain and the Fenland Poetry Journal. She has published The Dropping of Petals (Muscaliet Press, 2021), A Cranic of Ordinaries (Shearsman, 2024), Buying the Farm, a georgics of sorts (Shearsman, 2025) and her chapbook, Red Fifty Five: The Unpinning of Moths (Muscaliet Press, 2025). She was shortlisted for the Michael Marks Environmental Poet of the Year 2023/24 and she was nominated for the Laurel Prize in 2025. Her book Buying the Farm was the winner of the East Anglia poetry book of the year 2025. A copy of her chapbook can be found in the permanent moth collection at Shandy Hall (The Laurence Stern Trust). She collaborates with both Suffolk Wildlife Trust and Essex Wildlife Trust seeking to harness the emotional and literary landscapes of poetry for the preservation of East Anglia’s wild and natural landscapes.

We can’t wait to hear Eliza read. Tickets are £5 on the door. See you then! 💙

Can you BELIEVE we have headlining alongside Malika Booker on Saturday night!? ❤️‍🔥😮‍💨🫰

In Joelle Taylor’s most recent collection, Maryville, the eponymous butch bar of the title becomes an epicentre for the underground histories of q***r London. Joelle has said of the book that it’s “a vehicle for examining community, q***r class politics, love, female masculinity, and long-term friendship – set against the background of the rise of the Gay Liberation Front, the women’s movement, black civil rights, and the squatting revolution. I wanted to conjure worlds, make new myths. It’s a ghost story and what a ghost story really is, is a love story.” And the writer Neil Bartlett has called Maryville “sexy, fearless – and ravishingly beautiful.”

We can’t wait to see Joelle in November! Stay tuned on our socials and sign up to our mailing list to receive more news! 💙☀️

We are beyond thrilled to have the incredible .booker as one of our Saturday Gala headliners! 😮‍💨🫰❤️‍🔥

Malika Booker has said of her work: “most of my writing to date seems to explore what we as Caribbean people inherit, and our legacy – what we pass on.” Her Forward-Prize winning poems ‘Libation’ and ‘The Little Miracles’ both touch on that heritage, what is honoured and remembered from our ancestors, the worlds of Bible and community. The Poetry Archive calls her “a master of storytelling” and goes on to say “[Booker] is supremely skilled in drawing together her passion for Caribbean culture, her revealing insight into humanity, and her theatrical vision into poetry which both enthrals and provokes.”

We are thrilled to see her at this year’s festival! 💙🩵💛
