About the director:

Liam is a conductor and tenor currently undertaking Part II of the Music Tripos at Trinity College, Cambridge. Aside from the work he does on his degree, he sings with the college choir, which has been ranked as one of the top choirs in the world. In his capacity as a conductor, he is the Musical Director of the Trinity College Music Society and the University’s premier acapella group, Cadenza. He also runs the renowned vocal ensemble, King Henry’s VIII and is preparing the group for their upcoming masterclass with founder and director of Gesualdo 6, Owain Park. Liam’s love of choral music was shaped by his fantastic early experiences of singing with Finchley Children’s Music Group, performing eclectic music in prestigious venues across England and the Continent, culminating in their yearly appearances at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms.

Healing Through Grief is a project that aims to explore ideas that arise from the need for the celebration of life amidst the solemnity of Remembrance Sunday, as we reflect on those who fell in past conflicts as well as loved ones who are affected in many ways by ongoing conflicts in 2024. Gathering singers from across his home city of London and his university city of Cambridge, Liam Lichy-Lightman presents this curated programme of choral works spanning almost 700 years, including works by Gesualdo, Monteverdi, Poulenc, and a world premier and short pre-concert talk by Royal Academy of Music Composer, Luca Zucchi.
