A week has passed since the competition officially opened the 2025 in the beautiful surroundings of the in Eastcastle Street.
In the evening the audience were truly in awe of the calibre, musicianship and professionalism of all finalists. The atmosphere was simply electric - the hush as competitors performed, the buzz that deepened after each performance, and the nervous anticipation whilst the adjudicators deliberated.

🎶 ISABELLE HARRIS - an award-winning flautist from PONTYPRIDD 🎶
‘Isabelle holds first-class degrees from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Isabelle has performed with Orchestra of the Swan, BBCNOW, Chipping Campden Festival Orchestra, and London Symphony Orchestra, in venues including Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Hall, and BBC Hoddinott Hall. She also performed in the 2024 Thursford Christmas Spectacular in Norfolk.
Isabelle also enjoys a diverse solo career and has performed concertos with orchestras across Wales. Isabelle performed in the final of the Blue Riband Prize in the 2024 Eisteddfod Genedlaethol in Pontypridd, her hometown, and won the Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize at RWCMD, a prestigious bi-annual competition open to all musicians at the college. She has also received awards from the British Flute Society and the McGrenery Chamber Music prize with the Oneira Trio’.

Performances from the visiting choirs: Côr PENLLYS, Côr Y BORO and CHORATE were indeed the crowning glory for what can only be described as a wonderfully memorable evening.
