Very few records exist, but it provided music for the Corporation’s Annual Festival of Carols held at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square for at least sixty years. In 2002, the society merged with the former British Railways Choir (the St Marylebone Singers) to become London’s Transport Choir. Music
We sing a mixture of secular and sacred music. In addition to providing Christmas Music at t
he Annual Festival of Carols and at the Railstaff Carol Service, we have performed classical programmes including Faure’s Requiem. Over the past five years we have expanded our repertoire to include more popular music such as ABBA as well as classical songs and transport related tunes. We learn new music every year and we are happy to learn specific pieces for performances. Our website has more information - LondonsTransportChoir.org
European Transport Choirs
Every 2 years we sing with our fellow transport choirs based in Paris and Brussels. We have had to postpone our planned visit to Paris in 2020 until 2021. Past performances
In 2019 we sang at Southwark cathedral to commemorate Railway workers in WW1. We have also sung at other events including those that mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Black History Month, World Day of Remembrance for Victims of Road Traffic Collisions and at International Women’s Day events in 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020. Membership
Membership is open to anyone who enjoys singing and works for or supports transport in London - no audition required. Please visit our website LondonsTransportChoir.org or email [email protected] for more information. The Future
We would like the choir to reflect the people that work in transport and use it. We sing a varied programme of classical, sacred and popular music that we hope will appeal to a wide range of tastes. We would like to expand our work and build on contacts with other organisations both within and without the public transport industry. We welcome any questions via Messenger, through our website LondonsTransportChoir.org or by email [email protected]
Regards
Catherine - Choir Secretary
