Second founder speaking on the night is Boaz Valkin, Co-Founder & CEO of Falkin. Falkin is building a digital safety platform for banks and financial institutions, designed to reduce scam losses, increase trust, and deepen digital engagement. As AI-driven scams and phishing attacks continue to rise, Falkin helps institutions intervene earlier through real-time scam intelligence, safety assistants, passive monitoring, and in-flow protections that guide customers before money moves. The company is already live with banks and financial institutions in both the UK and US, and has shown early traction in helping prevent fraud losses while strengthening customer trust.

Falkin is addressing a major and growing problem in financial services, with a model built around scalable annual contracts and strong network effects as more institutions join the platform.

First founder speaking this evening is Matt Bird, Founder of Tobin. Tobin is building the autopilot for capital readiness and credibility for mid-market companies, helping businesses get deal-ready before lenders, buyers, or investors ever ask. In a world where diligence is becoming increasingly forensic, Tobin helps companies identify gaps, red flags, and deal breakers early, and prepare stronger, deal-specific data rooms that can stand up to scrutiny. The wedge product can assess a model in under five minutes, generate a deal score, provide a full diligence report, and surface action items.

Matt is a serial founder with 7 years in FinTech, has raised both debt and equity capital multiple times, advised businesses on debt, equity and sale processes, and previously built lending infrastructure for banks in the UK and US with $80m GMV.

Topic: Decoding the UK Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) – Insights & Opportunities for Investors and Entrepreneurs. Featuring Olivia Wing from Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA).

Here are 3 investor-friendly EIS facts worth knowing👇

1. 30% Income Tax relief: Eligible investors can claim 30% Income Tax relief on EIS investments, up to £1m per tax year — or up to £2m where anything above £1m is invested in knowledge-intensive companies. You can also carry back a claim to the previous tax year (within the rules).

2. Capital Gains Tax (CGT) upside: You can defer a capital gain by investing in EIS shares within the window 1 year before to 3 years after the gain arose (Deferral Relief). Plus, if you receive Income Tax relief and meet the conditions (including holding long enough), gains on the EIS shares can be relieved (often after 3 years).

3. Downside protection via Loss Relief: If an EIS investment is sold at a loss (or fails), you may be able to set the loss against income or gains (subject to rules), reducing the “real” risk on the downside.
