Recruitment agencies already know a huge amount about their markets. The problem is that a lot of that knowledge sits in individual conversations, CRM notes and recruiter instinct.

At Recruitment Agency Expo London 2026, Brooke Petersen, Chief Marketing & Growth Officer at The Conexus Group, made the case for using AI to pull more of that picture together: by spotting shifts in demand, seeing patterns earlier and giving clients a better view of what is happening.

AI can find the pattern - then the recruiter decides what matters.

Recruitment has already changed twice. First it was transactional. Then it became relationship-led. According to Brooke Petersen, it's now entering a third phase entirely.

At Recruitment Agency Expo 2026, Petersen explained that agencies now have access to data showing how talent markets actually move, where skills cluster, how people shift between companies, which sectors are about to grow.

Applied well, that intelligence means agencies can spot a client's hiring need before it's even advertised, not just respond faster once it lands on the job board.

The opportunity isn't speed. It's seeing further ahead than everyone else.

If you're weighing up exhibiting at RAE, here's what you actually get:

A room full of recruitment leaders who came to find agencies to work with, direct conversations instead of chasing decision-makers on LinkedIn, and your brand in front of people while they're actively thinking about who to partner with, not cold, not random.

One good stand conversation can do more than months of outreach. Worth the stand fee on its own.

The headlines love a scare story about AI taking recruitment jobs. Brooke Petersen isn't buying it.

Speaking at Recruitment Agency Expo 2026, the Chief Marketing & Growth Officer at The Conexus Group put it plainly: AI isn't replacing recruiters, it's replacing the guesswork.

Recruitment has always run on information advantage, knowing where the talent sits, which businesses are about to grow, where the next opportunity will land. That used to come from instinct built over years. Now it can come from data too.

The recruiters who win won't be the ones who ignore that shift. They'll be the ones who use it to back up what they already know.

Some of the best moments at RAE aren't on the agenda.

It's spotting someone you trained with a decade ago across the hall. Catching up with a supplier you've used for years but never actually met in person. Getting talking to a stranger in the coffee queue who turns out to run an agency three miles from yours.

Old faces, new faces, all in one room for two days. That's the bit people come back for.

Who actually walks the floor at Recruitment Agency Expo?

Agency owners scaling their next stage of growth. Ops directors trying to fix the systems that slow everyone down. Marketing teams making sure the brand's on point. Branch managers hunting for the CRM that finally does what it's supposed to.

Not browsers. People with a problem to solve and a budget to solve it with.

That's who you're standing in front of when you exhibit.

A stellar CV can still walk in and underdeliver. Angela Cripps and Claudine Collins, speaking at Recruitment Agency Expo 2026, explained why.

A CV only means something once you've had the conversation. It's a starting point for questions, not evidence of ability.

For recruitment consultants, that means resisting the polished page. Push past "I'm commercial" or "I'm strategic" and ask what that actually looked like.
What changed because of them?

The strongest hires aren't the ones with the tidiest history. They're the ones who can back up every claim with a real answer.

Sharing what you know from the stage does more than fill a slot in the agenda. It puts your name in front of the people who matter, builds the kind of credibility LinkedIn posts can't buy, and plants your flag as someone shaping the industry, not just working in it.

RAE 2027 is coming, and we're already thinking about who deserves that platform.

Recruitment leader Greg Savage has been in the industry for over four decades. Being a top biller was never the hard part. Learning to lead people was.

At Recruitment Agency Expo 2026, he made the distinction plainly: selling, influencing and closing don't automatically make you good at managing a team.

The move from recruiter to leader exposes weaknesses that were never a problem before. Ego. Pressure. Difficult conversations you'd rather avoid.

The leaders who grow are the ones honest enough to notice.
