We are KILTER; an award-winning collaborative theatre company. We make confronting theatre that responds to and seeks to change the world around us.

Our work is irreverent, emotionally charged, risky, formally inventive, often comic and sometimes angry. We think humour, playfulness and theatrical inventiveness are important. There is a strong visual and physical strand to our work, and collabora

ting across art-forms and genres is central to how we create.

KILTER was established in 2016 by Ed Theakston and Katie Coull, who met while training at East 15 Acting School, London. We have made work for venues including the King's Head, Theatre503, Camden People's Theatre, STYX, the Courtyard Hoxton, Landor_Space, and Tara Theatre. We have been commissioned by Wimbledon College of Art and worked with students on new work at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Mountview. Our work has been supported by the Lyric Hammersmith and the New Diorama.

In 2016 we won the Best Play award at the Stockwell Playhouse One Act Festival, and in 2017 were a recipient of the East 15 Emerging Companies Award.

“We’re really trying to celebrate the liveness of theatre in its purest, most stripped-back form. It’s intense but fun and surprising, each story with a unique perspective into solo lives in a time of needing and valuing friendship and connection.”

Lovely interview with writer and performer Ryan Lane about Theatre For Two! Opens today 💥

From this coming Saturday (5 June), We Are Kilter will be touring Theatre For Two around London; offering personal, interactive meetings between actor and audience member. We caught up with writer and performer Ryan Lane whose work is showcased as part of the newly commissioned micro-play series.

CASTING NEWS: Mary Malone (Safe, Hackney Empire) and Ryan Lane (Let Me Play The Lion Too, Barbican Centre) join the cast of THEATRE FOR TWO, a series of interactive encounters between actor and audience! On tour from 5 June.

You can see Mary in Tabby Lamb’s Gluten Free Caramel Crispy Mini Bite – a clarion call for a more tender society. She will also be performing Macadie Amoroso’s Reptile – a heart-warming story about a cold-blooded companion.

Ryan will be performing in his own new creation, The Recluse Who Lives On A Hill. You can also see him in Gabriella Leon’s Share-My-Home Companion – a ludicrous and powerful piece is about the need to have something to do.
