Never forgotten Merv! 🙏 Ouss!!
Today we pay tribute to a true warrior of English Karate Mervyn Etienne.
A fighter in every sense of the word, Mervyn represented England with pride, passion and relentless determination. On the tatami, he was explosive, fearless and technical a competitor who never stepped back, never gave less than everything, and always carried himself with respect and honour.
But beyond the medals, beyond the titles, beyond the battles fought under the bright lights Mervyn was a role model.
He inspired a generation of young athletes to believe that they belonged on the world stage. He showed that with discipline, heart and unwavering self-belief, anything is possible. His commitment to excellence, his humility in victory and dignity in defeat are qualities that will forever define his legacy.
Karate is more than a sport it is a way of life.
And Mervyn lived it.
For the England team, he was not just a competitor he was a standard setter. For young fighters watching from the sidelines, he was proof that greatness is achievable. For the karate community, he remains a symbol of resilience and pride.
