Happy Sunday people! Not so much a book post but a more informal personal one. Last week Kaya and I booked a day off from our day jobs and had a fun long w/e with family and friends. The weather was beaut 🌅 and perfect for a dancing sess (the music, energy and nostalgia is sooo good 💃🏽🪩). I took some pics of an impromptu hair switch up. A humid festival tent, hot sunshine and wearing her hair out natural = Kaya feeling like she was going to melt. Luckily we had the talented and radiant (in spirit and beauty) hairdresser Naomi to hand who in 2 mins ⏱ created this stunning braided up-do situation.✨Appreciation needed for the glow Kaya✨, mad how even just one day off work filled with fun and laughter can rejuvenate you after weeks/months/years of stress?! I went for the slick low bun look as I don’t play no games in that level of heat 🥵👀. Anyone else have hair struggles in summer?! Our book has made it to 🇧🇧Barbados🇧🇧. It makes our hearts so happy! We LOVE hearing the impact of the story and how it’s message of embracing your uniqueness has resonated with so many little ones. Especially when counteracting the European hair and beauty standards. Acknowledging and embracing our individual beauty is an important lesson and if encouraged from childhood, this can only strengthen a healthy perception of ones self. Zynnia now sees her uniqueness including the beauty in her natural hair! 💛💜 ‪       ‬

Hello wonderful people!
We feel we have made huge strides in our journey as being self published authors and trying to grow the movement of diversity and true representation in children’s literature. We are mindful there is still a way to go with positive black and ethnic minority leading characters.
