Llangorse Kayak Fishing, Predator Hunt

Entries are now closed, we have our field for the season opener as we kick-off our 14th year of competition at Llangorse!

This year it’s a day of two halves, our MentorMatch in the morning and our SprintFish in the afternoon. Please find attached the Pairings for the MentorMatch, take this week to contact your partner and start your planning/strategy for Saturday.

Rules are simple, the same rules we always have for Llangorse, which will be published shortly. The difference is the points, the names to the right for each pair will get a 50% points bonus on qualifying fish ie you catch a 100cm pike, it will count as 150cm.

Several asked how we’d create these Pairs, and I’ve got to say we’ve TOTALLY geeked out here. We’ve used an Ai social media search engine, and a LLM to do the pairings for us. The pairings are weighted:

- 40% by Kayak fishing/fishing experience
- 40% by competition results
- 20% by previous Llangorse experience

The LLM looked at the result from 217 fishing competitions, not just kayak fishing, at which any of your names appeared. The engine gave everyone a rating based on experience, competition results and who’s fished llangorse before. We spent last night running through the pairs to check the output, we are really excited about this.

If you’d still like to join us please contact Ed, he’s spent the weekend completing the RAMS and method statement for you all, but we maybe able to squeeze you in - although we may not be able to guarantee a pairing.

🏆 REELSKILLS Mentor Match 🏆

We’re starting the year with a difference, as part of our REELSKILLS initiative we want to encourage those with less experience, or those new to the sport, to come along and try a kayak fishing competition! To help build those kayak angling skills and techniques we’re trialing a ‘Mentor Match’ for 2026. The most experienced anglers will be paired with the least, with their combined catch total being the target - with a twist of course!

Quite simply we want to grow the sport, get more people interested. Whether you’re a seasoned kayak angler or have only just started, come a long and be part of our kayak fishing community, ‘share the knowledge’ - it will be a weekend to remember!

What a Weekend at Llangorse - here are the results! 🎣

A huge thank you to everyone who made the Llangorse Kayak Fishing Competition weekend such a fantastic success!

From bacon roll fuelled morning launches to the final check-ins, the energy, camaraderie, and sportsmanship on display were second to none.

We were blessed with a fantastic lake, brilliant fishing, stunning scenery, and most importantly a brilliant community of anglers who made the event so enjoyable. Whether you were competing, volunteering, joined us in the bar or even viewing the social media posts, you all helped make this one to remember. Although, a few may have been struggling to remember on Sunday morning!

Special thanks to the team at Llangorse, sponsors especially Garmin for the off-the-water prize and Navionics for breakfast, and everyone who helped behind the scenes. Your hard work and dedication don't go unnoticed.

Food orders for Llangorse !!

PLEASE STATE WHAT NIGHT OR NIGHTS YOU WANT GOOD IN THE MESSAGE PLEASE !!!!

As some will know, Michelle has decided to move on and she no longer has the club and will be missed massively.
Mark the new landlord has been working closely with me for a few weeks now and with it being his first weekend we have a reduced menu to ease him in on his first weekend at a great discounted rate for the kayakers for that weekend.
I am sure he will do a fantastic job
