Marlowe sat down with Peter Spafford for the latest episode of Love The Words, to discuss bring A BRIGHT ROOM CALLED DAY to Leeds

It's a fantastic interview and the whole thing even contains excerpts from the production itself

You can listen to the whole thing here - https://www.chapelfm.co.uk/elfm-player/archive/2026/05/love-the-words-347-a-bright-room-called-day/

We love collaborating with our friends at Chapel FM Arts Centre and we're always amazingly grateful for the opportunity

Don't forget to book tickets for A BRIGHT ROOM CALLED DAY which has a special preview showing on Saturday 13 June at All Hallows Church in Burley, before hitting the Studio at Carriageworks Theatre from Wednesday 17 June

Berlin, 1933. A modest apartment. Friends still laughing, still arguing, as tyranny closes in around them.

Tony Kushner's A Bright Room Called Day opens in three weeks at Carriageworks Theatre, and it asks something that feels uncomfortably current: how do ordinary people respond when faced with impossible decisions?

Presented by Leeds Arts Centre

17–20 June | The Studio, Millennium Square

Berlin, 1933. A small apartment. Wine, ci******es, friends, comrades and the slow creep of something terrible.

History is happening outside the window. Inside, something stranger is happening.

And then the KPD officers arrive. No mystery there. Just the grinding weight of a world that has already decided.
What do you do when the world goes wrong and you stay very, very still?

Don't miss this haunting exploration of history, complicity, and the light we try to keep burning.

We took a minute during the whirlwind get in at All Hallows to chat to our set designer Mia Thomsen on what it means to design set for a portable show that's got to fit into the back of a car!
