We're delighted to see comics finding a home in the Children's Ward at Furness General Hospital, helping bring creativity, imagination and a little joy to young readers and their families.

As Barrow continues its journey as the UK's first Comic Book Town, you'll be seeing more comics popping up across the community in the months ahead.

✨ Beyond Words Festival is back!

From 8–22 June, the French Institute in London invites you to discover the 9th edition of Beyond Words Festival of Literature — a vibrant programme of literary talks, screenings, readings, and conversations with acclaimed authors and exciting new voices from across the world.

From Beirut to Italy, and from Balzac to Camus, the festival explores stories that move between the intimate and the political, bringing literature to life both on the page and on screen.

Featuring authors including Sorj Chalandon, Camille de Peretti, Olivier Norek, Fergal Keane, Joseph Incardona, Nastassja Martin, Valentin Deudon, and many more.
